The year is 2025.
Five years ago, an outbreak of a mysterious, highly contagious virus plunged the world into chaos. It ravaged entire cities, attacking millions.
The ones that were affected had their mental states practically destroyed, and lived on as mere husks of a human. While their physical form rotted away, they slowly descended into madness until they could no longer think. They began to turn on the living beings around them, devouring them, as if desperate to regain some semblance of strength.
Some were lucky to only become a zombie.. others turned further into more terrifying creatures that thrive in the dark, like cave dwellers; or other deformed, horrible entities that dwell in the forests.
As the years went on, the virus spread to more and more areas around the world. Entire cities crumbled, aged by time and decay. Forests and other wilderness ran wild, overgrowing places that previously had no vegetation.
Millions of casualties turned into billions, and soon, there were very few humans left alive on the planet.
You are one of them.
