Pixelmon Prime-3.0
What's new
⚔️ A NEW ERA OF COMBAT COMES TO PIXELMON PRIME ⚔️
You've trained your Pokémon. Now it's time to become a force yourself.
Prime is launching an entire trainer combat identity — skill trees, elemental auras, a personal typing that the world reacts to, a wave-based Arena, and a whole hostile dimension waiting on the other side of a Voidgate. This is a deep, systemic overhaul, and this post is your full field manual. Read it, then go live it.
🌳 STEP ONE — Become a Battle Trainer
At the heart of everything is your Trainer Skill Tree.
Choose your Trainer Type. Pick one of the 18 elemental types (Fire, Water, Electric, Dragon, Ghost… all of them) to define your combat identity. Open your Trainer Skill Tree (default keybind: K — rebindable in Controls) to choose your type and spend your growth.
Earn Skill XP by fighting. Every hostile you fell feeds your progression. Skill XP becomes skill points, and you pour those points into your tree's nodes — a deep lattice of passive bonuses and active abilities, unlocking tier by tier as you invest, all the way up to max trainer level 60.
Fight in Combat Mode. Toggle Combat Mode (default: X) to draw on your kit. Your chosen loadout of abilities fires on their slot keys — your type's signature moves, made real: dashes, cones, wards, and heavy strikes, each with its own cooldown and its own flavor. Combat Mode is a different way to play — direct, active, and skill-driven.
Your Pokémon grow too. Every Pokémon has its own skill tree, shaped by its own type(s) — dual-types get a composed tree blending both. Your Pokémon earn XP, invest points, gain roaming passive perks, and auto-cast their own abilities at your side in combat. Open a party Pokémon's tree with its own keybind and build it into a true battle companion.
🌀 STEP TWO — Equip an Aura (and change how your tree plays)
Auras aren't just cosmetic anymore.
Every player can equip an elemental Aura, and each Aura resonates with your Trainer Tree. The Aura you wear layers special buffs and effects onto your abilities — so the same Trainer Tree plays completely differently depending on the Aura you pair it with. Mixing your tree and your aura is where your build truly comes alive; experiment, because every combination resonates its own way.
Your Aura also does something crucial…
🎯 STEP THREE — Understand Your TYPING (this keeps you alive)
Here's the mechanic that changes everything: you have a Pokémon-style typing, and the world uses it against you.
Your personal typing is built from two things stacked together:
- Your Trainer Type (from your Skill Tree), and
- The type of the Aura you have equipped.
Together they give you a dual typing — exactly like a Pokémon. (Wear an Aura that matches your Trainer Type and you're mono-typed instead.)
Why it matters: the hostiles you fight are typed too, and when they strike you, the blow is run through type effectiveness against BOTH your Trainer type AND your Aura type — stacked together. A super-effective hit lands harder; a resisted one lands softer. Hit-markers show you the effectiveness of every blow you take.
So your Trainer Type and your Aura aren't just offense and flavor — they're your defensive profile. Walking into a Fire-heavy territory wearing the wrong pairing will hurt. Choose your typing for where you're headed. This is real, build-defining decision-making.
🏟️ STEP FOUR — The Arena
The Arena is your proving ground — a dedicated combat coliseum, safely instanced away from the world.
How it works:
- Open the Arena lobby with
/arena. Go solo or rally a team. - Choose your difficulty — a ladder of escalating rungs. The higher you climb, the deadlier the waves and the greater the spoils.
- Survive wave after wave of typed hostiles and hardened Arena Elites pouring into the pit. Each wave you hold is a wave banked.
- Down, but not out: fall in the Arena and you don't hit a respawn screen — you become a spectating ghost over your own body, marked by a swirling ring of your type's light. A teammate who stands in your ring pours time into reviving you — faster with more allies. Rise, and get back in the fight.
- Rewards scale with how far you push — Skill XP, loot, currency, and hauls that climb with every wave beaten.
And the Arena is where your journey to the Reaches begins…
🔮 STEP FIVE — The Voidgate: Your Key to the Reaches
The Arena's greatest prize is the Voidgate — the sole key to the Hostile Reaches.
How to obtain one: Voidgates are earned in the Arena. There's a chance for one to surface at an Arena run's end, and that chance climbs the more waves your warband holds. Push deep, and the void pays its due. (The mightiest Arena challenges can yield them more readily still.)
How to use one: hold the Voidgate and use it (right-click) — or type /incursion. This opens the incursion lobby, where you muster a warband of fellow trainers. When you begin, the Voidgate is spent, the rift tears open, and your whole warband is cast together into the Hostile Reaches.
You do not walk into the Reaches. You are thrown in — as a team, with no easy way back. Bring friends.
☠️ STEP SIX — The Hostile Reaches
The Hostile Reaches are a vast, punishing dimension unlike anything in vanilla Pixelmon — a world carved into 18 elemental territories, each ruled by its own type, each more dangerous than the last.
What you'll face:
- Typed hostiles everywhere — every enemy carries an elemental type and strikes with the type effectiveness you just learned to fear. Read your matchups.
- Elites & Dreadborn: ordinary hostiles can ascend into larger, tougher, ability-wielding Elites — and rarer still, dread-named horrors that hit far harder and drop far better.
- Monuments, Spires & Caches: the territories are studded with grand structures to discover — monuments that tower over the terrain, and caches you can crack open for loot before they seal.
- This is deadly by design. The Reaches don't forgive carelessness. Coordinate, watch your typing, and don't get greedy.
🏰 STEP SEVEN — The Cities & Their Sieges
Scattered through the Reaches are 18 unique cities — each one built to its territory's identity, populated with living townsfolk who walk the streets… and can be lost.
City Invasions: draw near a city and the horde comes. Waves of hostiles — Elites among them, and a Champion at their head — pour toward the townsfolk to cut them down. A boss bar tracks the assault. Hold the line, clear the horde, and save the city — and your reward scales with how many townsfolk survive. Save them all for the jackpot; let the city fall for scraps. Win, and the city recovers to stand again another day.
The Reaches aren't an empty gauntlet. They're inhabited — and the people in them need heroes.
👑 STEP EIGHT — The Sovereigns
At the summit of each territory sits a Sovereign — one colossal super-boss per type, the element made flesh: the Cinder Sovereign, the Drowned Monarch, the Stormcrown, the Last Wyrm, and fourteen more god-tyrants.
Summoning one: find the territory's Throne — an obsidian dais with a lodestone altar — and call the Sovereign down (interact with the altar, or strike it from range with an arrow to keep your distance). The cooldown is territory-wide, so rally your warband before you ring the bell.
These are not ordinary bosses:
- When a Sovereign rises, it is briefly untouchable — rearing back and loosing a mighty roar before the battle begins. Don't waste your opening; you can't hurt it until it drops its guard.
- Each one speaks in its element's own voice and fights with a phased, type-flavored kit that escalates and enrages in the final third.
- The winged Sovereigns take to the skies — the Gale Tyrant and the Last Wyrm launch into the air for punishing aerial assaults, then come crashing back down within your reach.
- Fell one and every fighter who drew blood is showered in spoils — a king's ransom of loot, currency, and Skill XP.
They are the hardest, grandest fights in the Reaches. Bring everything you have.
