Description

Petrichor is a lightweight, cozy rainy-day survival pack, built for the days you just want to stay in. Light the lanterns, put a pot on the stove, and listen to the storm roll in while you cook, farm, and make your home feel lived in. It skips the giant tech and magic mods, so it loads fast and runs well on most PCs.

Rain that feels real: Rain falls at an angle with the wind, puddles form and spread during storms, and sound changes with the room you're in. Under a roof, the rain is close and muffled; in a big open hall, it echoes.

Storms: Real storm fronts roll across the sky with heavy thunder and wind. Tornadoes and block damage are turned off, so your house stays standing.

Cooking at the heart of it: Stir-fry in a wok, slice ingredients on a cutting board, and keep stockpots simmering over the fire with Kaleidoscope Cookery and its addons. Grill outside, brew tea and coffee, bake bread, press wine, and build a full kitchen with a fridge, sink, and oven.

Seasons: Every season changes the crops you can grow and the weather outside. Winter snow means stay-inside-and-cook time, and greenhouse glass keeps your garden going.

Tree felling: Chop trees down log by log with TreeChop instead of punching every block.

A world worth looking at: New biomes and dramatic mountains to build beside, so there's always something beautiful outside your window.

A home worth staying in: Furniture, windows, roofs, lamps, hammocks, wind chimes, flower boxes, and storage drawers. Lots of ways to make a space feel lived in.

Small comforts: Recipe lookup, inventory sorting, auto-refilling hotbar, block info at a glance, a minimap, and corpses that keep your things safe if a trip outside goes wrong.

Eight shader packs are included so you can pick what fits your PC. Turn them on under Options → Video Settings → Shader Packs.

Complementary Reimagined (recommended): Balanced and close to vanilla, looks great in the rain.
Complementary Unbound: A more dramatic take on Complementary.
BSL: The classic, warm and soft.
Bliss: Cinematic and moody. Heavier on performance.
Photon: Realistic lighting. Heavier on performance.
Solas: Bright, soft, and colorful.
Sildur's Vibrant: Vivid colors, with settings from light to extreme.
MakeUp Ultra Fast: Lightweight, for lower-end PCs.

Tip: if puddles look like they're waving into the ground, turn off **Water Waving** in your shader's settings.

Requirements: Minecraft 1.20.1, Forge. Petrichor is a lighter pack: 6 GB of RAM is plenty (8 GB if you use Bliss or Photon), and 5 GB is the minimum. Lower-end PC? Use the MakeUp Ultra Fast shader or play without shaders.

Laptops with two graphics chips: Make sure Minecraft runs on your dedicated GPU (Windows Settings → Display → Graphics → set javaw.exe to High performance).

First world: Generation is heavier than vanilla because of the new terrain, so the first few minutes in a new world may stutter while chunks load. It settles down.

Best experience: Turn on a shader, find a spot by the mountains, wait for rain, and start cooking.

Petrichor wouldn't exist without the people who made these mods, resource packs, and shaders. Huge thanks to the authors of Kaleidoscope Cookery, Farmer's Delight, Farmer's Respite, the Let's Do series, Cooking for Blockheads, Particle Rain, Puddles & Floods, Sound Physics Remastered, AmbientSounds, Weather, Storms & Tornadoes, Serene Seasons, TreeChop, Terralith, Tectonic, Macaw's mods, Supplementaries, Handcrafted, Another Furniture, Comforts, Chimes, and every other mod in the pack. Please support them on their pages.

Shaders by EminGT (Complementary), capttatsu (BSL), Xonk (Bliss), sixthsurge (Photon), Septonious (Solas), Sildur (Sildur's Vibrant), and XavierFST (MakeUp).
