⚠️ IMPORTANT: SAVE COMPATIBILITY NOTICE
Path of the Ascended 2.0 is NOT compatible with 1.0 save files. Due to the removal of major technical mods and fundamental changes to terrain generation and the leveling system, attempting to load an old world will result in broken chunks, missing items, and potential crashes.
Recommendation: A fresh world is required to experience the new progression. If you wish to finish your current journey, DO NOT UPDATE until you are ready to start anew. 2.0 is designed from the ground up to be a superior experience from the very start of the game!
MAJOR UPDATE PATH OF THE ASCENDED 2.0:
[Major Changes]
- Increased the maximum level per stat to 50 (was 30). As a result, the maximum experience cost per stat level is capped at 750 (was 1500), and the ramp up has been lowered slightly (you now have to reach around level 120 before you hit the cap of 750). The stat bonuses per level have also been halved to account for this increase in maximum level.
- Added a new massive skill tree, with class specific “Specialization” skill trees, and an even larger “Ascendancy” skill tree - all introducing new skills, spells, buffs, passive abilities, and ultimate “Ascendant” abilities.
- Removed the Create mod and its addons, and Immersive Aircraft - This was done as they did not fit the overall goal of the pack. Automation is not the end goal, and without the create mod the aircraft are too easy to make and trivialise transportation.
- Updated the Class Quests to be split into their own chapter, covering each Class’ specific weapons, armor, and more.
- Removed all gold tools and weapons from the game and loot pools, as they do not fit the progression and offer no meaningful reason to craft/use them.
- Added a bunch more quests, bringing the total to over 300 hand-crafted and lore-based quests.
- Added new subclasses to both the Archer and Warrior class - Archer has 3 new subclasses (War Archer, Tundra Hunter, and Deadeye), while Warrior has 1 (Wildling/Northling). These subclasses come with new weapons, armor, and spells.
- Crafted items no longer have rarity - Instead, the player must manually reforge a base item at an anvil (with the appropriate materials), or find pre-rolled items in loot.
- Massively enhanced terrain generation, featuring custom Tectonic configs to allow for larger landmasses, taller mountains, and more variety of terrain. Also includes WWOO to overhaul vanilla biomes to fit a more fantasy theme.
[Additions]
- [Mod] Stack Refill - Adds a more lightweight stack refill mechanic.
- [Mod] Inventory Essentials - Adds a more lightweight inventory sorting.
- [Mod] Simply Skills - Adds multiple new skill trees.
- [Mod] FTB x Mod Compat - This adds more functionality for the questing system, as well as additional mod integration.
- [Mod] Starter Kit - Used to give a new book on world start.
- [Mod] WWOO - Overhauls vanilla biomes to add more fantasy and variety to exploration.
- 4 new subclasses - 3 Archer, 1 Warrior. Includes a new weapon type, and multiple new spells for each subclass.
- Expanded the Potion Ring questline to walk the player through the new ring tiers.
[Removed]
- [Mod] Create (and related mods).
- [Mod] Better Villages (leaving CTOV instead).
- [Mod] This Rocks (replaced with default Early Stage rocks).
- [Mod] Immersive Aircraft.
- [Mod] Immersive Instruments.
- [Mod] Inventory Profiles Next (replaced with Stack Refill and Inventory Essentials for more lightweight sorting and inventory management).
- [Mod] Welcome Screen (replaced with a book).
- [Mod] Bountiful + Addons (wasn’t really adding anything meaningful).
- Datapacks/Resourcepacks no longer needed due to removed mods.
- Unused library/support mods due to removed mods.
- All gold tools/weapons from the game and loot pools.
[Changed]
- Waystones now no longer generate randomly - You can now only find them in villages or structures that spawn them.
- Slightly increased the spawn chance for Mutant Monsters (except the Mutant Enderman).
- Rebalanced the stat requirements for numerous Legendary Weapons to allow for more variety per class.
- Updated stat requirements for potion rings - They now require individual alchemy levels depending on how impactful they are.
- Health regen now starts 5 seconds after the last damage instance (was 10).
- Altered terrain generation to induce larger mountains, and larger biomes with wider distribution for a grander scale.
- World map now requires a physical Atlas in your inventory to use (you get given one from the starter quest).
- Crafted items no longer have rarities.
- Increased experience rewards for a large quantity of quests to match the new leveling changes.
- Reduced maximum level of the Combat Roll enchantments to fit properly with the single level enchantment mode.
- The pack now ships with shaders OFF by default, and Distant Horizons terrain generation turned OFF. Players can now choose to enable these features manually should they want to or have powerful enough hardware for it (explained in the starting book).
[Leveling Changes]
- Maximum level per skill is now 50 (was 30).
- Maximum experience cost per level is not 750 (was 1500).
- Experience cost multiplier for stat point levels has been reduced to 0.05 (was 0.06).
- To account for the new max level, stat requirements have been adjusted as follows (this does not include every item, just a general idea. All items will also still have a smithing level requirement to craft/smith equal to their primary stat requirement):
- Flint Tools - 0 stat requirements (was 0)
- Stone Tools - Level 8 Mining/Farming (was 6)
- Iron Tools - Level 20 Mining/Farming (was 12)
- Diamond Tools - Level 30 Mining/Farming (was 20)
- Moonstone Tools - Level 40 Mining/Farming (was 26)
- Netherite Tools - Level 50 Mining/Farming (was 30)
- Leather Armor - 0 stat requirements (was defense 2)
- Tier 1 Class Armor - Class Stat 10 (was 8)
- Tier 2 Class Armor - Class Stat 30 (was 20)
- Tier 3 Class Armor - Class Stat 50 (was 30)
- Flint Weapons - 0 stat requirements (was 0)
- Stone Weapons - Class Stat 10 (was 6)
- Iron Weapons - Class Stat 20 (was 12)
- Diamond Weapons - Class Stat 30 (was 18)
- Netherite Weapons - Class Stat 40 (was 24)
- Legendary Weapons - Class Stat 50 (was 30)
[Fixed]
- [Bug] Black arm models in first person when wearing modded armor.
- [Bug] Tweaked Naturalist’s spawn weightings to remove butterfly spawns (was spawning too often in some biomes and causing lag) and reduce the spawn chance of smaller less important animals like birds.
- [Bug] Fixed erroneous potion textures due to mismatched resource pack version.
- [Bug] Disabled dynamic Server Core config option that increased/decreased render distance and simulation distance randomly causing chunk reloading.
- [Bug] Incorrect quest dependencies causing invisible quests.
There are also many smaller fixes, tweaks, and updates that I will have missed from this changelog due to the scale of this update. There will also likely be bugs, issues, or problems so please do report any you find to the modpack page, or join the discord and post them there! Thank you all for the support and downloads, and I hope Path of the Ascended 2.0 brings you a fresh new adventure!
