Outbreak Protocol - Dead Horizon
A survival-horror modpack set in a world overrun by zombies, mutants, and the occasional armed human faction. Barricade at night, scavenge ruined cities by day, and don't get caught out in a storm — thunder makes zombies hear you from farther away.

This is my first modpack. I'm not a professional pack developer, I don't have a fixed roadmap, and I'm genuinely figuring a lot of this out as I go. The mod selection reflects what I personally enjoy playing — it is not trying to be a "complete" or "meta" pack, and it will change shape based on what players report back. Bug reports, balance complaints, and "please add/remove X" suggestions are not just welcome, they're basically how this pack is going to be finished.
This pack does not include Create (or any Create-based mods/add-ons). If you're joining expecting Create-style automation/contraptions, this isn't that pack — it's focused on survival, combat, and atmosphere instead.
Core themes
Survival pressure
- Cold Sweat (temperature) + Thirst was Taken (hydration) stacked on top of vanilla hunger — you have three separate resources to manage, not just food.
- AppleSkin for clear at-a-glance food/saturation info.
Combat & firearms
- TaCZ (Timeless & Classics: Guns) as the core firearms system, extended with several TaCZ add-ons (attachments, optimization, extra weapons).
- Combat Roll for dodge-based melee, Better Combat for weapon variety.
- Gunfire carries — firing your weapon draws zombies from a distance, so silencers and positioning actually matter.
Enemies
- Alex's Mobs, Mutant Monsters, and Mutants and Zombies add variety beyond vanilla zombies.
- Cannibal Conundrum adds human enemies that behave differently from undead ones.
- Enhanced Hordes brings periodic large-scale horde events — barricade accordingly.
- Human military-style encounters (armed NPCs that take cover and shoot back) alongside the undead.
Base building & security
- SecurityCraft for cameras, alarms, and defenses.
- Sophisticated Backpacks and Curios API for extra storage/equipment slots.
- Corpse (death items stay on a corpse body instead of scattering).
World & exploration
- Terralith, Tectonic, and Project: Vibrant Journeys layered on TerraBlender for varied, non-vanilla terrain.
- A large set of ruined/abandoned structure packs (abandoned cities, watchtowers, doomsday structures, radio towers) to scavenge.
Performance
- Embeddium, Ferrite Core, EntityCulling, Clumps, Dynamic FPS, BadOptimizations, and several other optimization mods included by default — this pack is heavy (~260 mods), so performance mods aren't optional extras, they're load-bearing.
Status
Actively in development. Expect balance changes, mob tuning, and structure/worldgen adjustments in future updates as feedback comes in. If something feels broken, unbalanced, or unfinished — it probably is, and that's exactly the kind of feedback that shapes the next update.
