Official ClayGrounds 1.4
Updated from 1.3
ClayGrounds 1.4 is a major modernization of the complete experience, bringing the modpack onto DAI Engine 4.2 and replacing the older v0.7-era ClayGrounds implementation with the extensively rebuilt modern Data and Resource packs.

- Updated the bundled ClayGrounds Data and Resource packs to the current rebuilt experience.
- Moves the modpack far beyond the v0.7 gameplay/visual baseline retained by ClayGrounds 1.3.

DAI Engine 4.2
- Updated the official experience to DAI Engine 4.2.
- Adds the modern DAI Experience lifecycle and full application-shell architecture.
- ClayGrounds can now behave much more like a standalone game inside Minecraft.
- Improved experience startup, world transitions, resource-pack handling, server-authoritative gameplay, and custom interface support.
- Supports clean navigation between:
- DAI Universe
- ClayGrounds Title
- ClayGrounds Gameplay
Full ClayGrounds Application Experience

- Added authored flows for:
- World Selection
- Local Characters

- Existing ClayGrounds saves remain accessible through the current experience flow.
Ocean World Rework
- Replaced the old basic flat-world foundation with a proper DAI-generated ocean world.
- Added:
- Stone ocean floor
- Sand seabed
- Consistent water depth
- Ocean biome generation
- Controlled authored terrain without unwanted vanilla structures
- ClayGrounds islands now exist naturally within a persistent ocean environment rather than relying entirely on a manually simulated water basin.
Island Generation Improvements
- Reworked staged island construction for much greater reliability.

- Generation batches now wait until their destination chunks are actually available.
- Added deterministic repair/migration handling for older worlds.
- Improved Sunwash, Verdant, Claycrest, and Grotto generation.
- Existing progression can be retained while old world layouts migrate forward.
Safe Inter-Island Travel
- Completely rebuilt ferry and Waystone travel safety.
- Travel destinations are now preloaded and verified before the player is moved.
- Landing checks verify:
- Destination chunk is loaded
- Solid floor exists
- Landing block is not water/lava/air
- Adequate player headroom exists
- Failed destination checks cancel safely instead of dropping the player into unloaded terrain or the void.
NPC System Rework
- Expanded Solmere with seven major NPCs:
- Mirelle
- Brakka
- Syl
- Orin

Dialogue & Interface Upgrade

- Close
- Previously-read mentor dialogue can skip directly to important decisions.
- Important choices are never skipped automatically.
- Reed's ferry interface now uses a real ClayGrounds DAI screen.
Complete Enemy Visual Rework
- Replaced the old multipart
item_displaypresentation system. - ClayGrounds enemies now use rebuilt DAI-native mesh actors while retaining gameplay carriers for AI and combat.
- Reworked all nine major enemy/boss types:
- Clayling
- Sunscorched
- Vinecrawler
- Mossbound
- Canopy Fang
- Claycrest Archer
- Ruins Sentinel
- Kilnbound
- Shorewarden
- Reduced the large stacks of invisible display entities previously needed to construct each character.

NPC Model Rework
- Mirelle, Brakka, Syl, Orin, Reed, Pella, and Tovan now use dedicated native character models.
- Each NPC receives a more distinct silhouette, role, clothing, and equipment design.
- Improved readability between mentors, merchants, travel NPCs, and progression characters.
Texture & Material Overhaul
- Rebuilt ClayGrounds entity materials and textures around the new native models.
- Added individual:
- Main material textures
- Accent textures

Native Model Render Compatibility
- Added a pack-side visibility workaround for DAI native model actors.
- Visual actors now use narrow but model-appropriate culling dimensions.
- Added collision-disabled visual actors to prevent presentation entities from interfering with gameplay.
- Keeps the official release compatible with the standard unmodified DAI Engine 4.2 runtime.
Custom Item Presentation

- Pressing ESC again returns directly to gameplay.
- Implemented entirely through DAI 4.2's existing pack-side screen override system.
Performance & Stability

- Improved generation chunk handling.
- Improved world-entry and migration reliability.
- Improved safe destination handling.
- Added cleanup for obsolete visual rigs.
- Reduced reliance on command-timing assumptions during world generation.
- Retained compatibility with existing ClayGrounds progression wherever supported.
Modpack Dependency Cleanup
ClayGrounds 1.4 now ships as a focused three-part experience:
- DAI Engine 4.2
- [DAI] ClayGrounds Data
- [DAI] ClayGrounds Resource
The separately listed Damage Indicators datapack from the ClayGrounds 1.3 stack is no longer an explicit modpack dependency.
Compatibility
- Minecraft 26.2
- NeoForge 26.2.0.59
- DAI Engine 4.2
- Existing supported ClayGrounds saves and progression remain compatible through the accumulated migration system.
ClayGrounds 1.4 transforms the official modpack from the earlier v0.7-based RPG package into the modern, fully presented ClayGrounds experience: a custom ocean world, progression-driven archipelago, native character system, safer travel, complete application shell, and experience-owned UI from launch through gameplay.
