Oathwrought 0.7.0 - Under Open Skies
What's new
UPDATE 0.7

Under Open Skies is Oathwrought’s environmental immersion update. It makes the existing world more alive, more beautiful, and more demanding without adding another large progression tree for returning players to memorize.
Highlights
A full seasonal cycle changes foliage, weather, snow, ice, and crop fertility. Heat, cold, wetness, altitude, shelter, nearby blocks, clothing, and preparation now matter.
Windblown rain and snow, volumetric clouds, fog, and restrained ambient effects create more cinematic weather. Snow accumulates naturally, covers plants and shaped blocks, and retreats during warmer seasons.
The main menu now carries the established Oathwrought branding, dedicated Under Open Skies update art, and new flavor text.
Climate and Survival
Cold Sweat has been configured around preparation rather than constant punishment. Ordinary country remains forgiving, while winter, storms, mountains, deserts, the Nether, and extreme biomes require more care. New players receive a ten-minute climate grace period.
Leather provides modest cold insulation. Cold Sweat’s dedicated insulation, climate clothing, waterskins, thermometers, and temperature-control equipment remain the stronger answer to severe conditions. Snowy and desert structures can occasionally provide useful climate supplies.
Seasons and Farming
A major season lasts 24 Minecraft days. Crops have overlapping, intuitive growing seasons rather than narrow one-season windows. Out-of-season crops break when they next attempt to grow, making winter and seasonal changes meaningful.
Glass greenhouses and farms below Y 48 protect crops from seasonal restrictions. Vanilla, Farmer’s Delight, Rustic Delight, and Eternal Starlight crops have been audited and assigned balanced coverage. Realm-native crops remain viable year-round in their intended environment.
Temperature-Aware Food
Soups, stews, broths, porridge, hot cocoa, coffee, and Builder’s Tea provide mild temporary warmth. This includes compatible meals from Farmer’s Delight, Rustic Delight, Aquaculture Delight, Eternal Starlight, Eternal Starlight Delight, Create, and The Bumblezone—including Turtle Soup.
Melon juice, popsicles, sherbet, fruit-forward salads, and other clearly cooling foods provide mild temporary relief from heat. Ordinary cooked meals remain temperature-neutral so food effects stay understandable and useful rather than arbitrary.
Weather and Presentation
Particle Rain, Better Clouds, and Subtle Effects add windblown precipitation, fog, volumetric skies, and small environmental details while retaining Minecraft’s original block and texture language.
Snow Real Magic and its seasonal compatibility allow winter buildup to interact naturally with the world.
The main menu now displays the established Oathwrought logo and dedicated Under Open Skies subtitle art.
The new splash messages include “Hollis loves you,” “It’s gonna get cold out there,” “Bring a coat,” “Probably saved,” “Forged with unreasonable persistence,” “The bees know what you did,” and “Don’t eat the smithing components.”
Player Guidance
Fresh players receive the Oathwrought Field Guide, Antique Atlas, Under Open Skies climate guide, and 0.7 release notes.
The release-note grant has been repaired for players who tested an earlier 0.7 revision and remains limited to one copy per player.
Deliberate Scope
This release does not add a mattock, automatic tool switching, or swing-through-grass behavior. Those ideas remain deferred so 0.7 can focus on weather, survival preparation, farming, atmosphere, and presentation without overloading returning players.
Updating
A fresh world is recommended for the cleanest terrain, structure, seasonal, and loot behavior. Existing worlds can be used, but back up the instance and world before updating.
