What's new

OATHWROUGHT 0.5 — ECHOES BEYOND

Echoes Beyond expands Oathwrought with two new realms, additional exploration, new equipment, expanded cooking, and extensive compatibility with the pack’s blacksmithing progression.

NEW REALMS

Deeper and Darker expands the Deep Dark and allows players to journey beyond the reinforced Ancient City portal.

Eternal Starlight introduces a large new dimension filled with unfamiliar environments, creatures, structures, resources, equipment, and major encounters.

The methods of reaching these realms have been left for players to discover.

ETERNAL STARLIGHT’S DELIGHT

New crops, ingredients, meals, and cooking opportunities connect Eternal Starlight with Farmer’s Delight.

BLACKSMITHING COMPATIBILITY

Ordinary Eternal Starlight tools, weapons, armor, and knives can no longer bypass Oathwrought’s blacksmithing progression through simple crafting-table recipes.

These items must now be forged using the proper Smithing Anvil. Higher-level Starlight equipment cannot be produced on the Stone Smithing Anvil.

Craftable unique weapons have also been incorporated into Overgeared where appropriate. Exploration rewards, boss drops, mob drops, magical artifacts, and other earned equipment retain their intended acquisition methods.

New blueprint categories support the additional weapon and tool types introduced by Eternal Starlight.

Compatible equipment can receive forging quality and polishing results. Casting routes have also been provided for appropriate metal tool forms.

REALM-METAL HEATING

Suitable Eternal Starlight metals and alloys can now be heated using compatible furnaces before forging.

Heating and quenching are required only where they fit the material and recipe. Equipment made from materials that do not require heating will no longer incorrectly emerge from the anvil in a heated state.

Existing heated-ingot artwork has been reused to keep these additions visually consistent with Overgeared.

BALANCE CHANGES

Resonarium tools have been adjusted so that upgrading forged Diamond equipment provides a worthwhile improvement.

The Resonarium smithing template now correctly states that it applies to Diamond equipment rather than Iron equipment.

Amaramber equipment has received compatibility and balance adjustments so its recipe cost better reflects its resulting performance.

Equipment and recipe paths from the new dimensions have been reviewed to avoid expensive upgrades that provide no meaningful benefit over their required base items.

Eternal Starlight’s cheaper Alloy Furnace Netherite recipe has been disabled. Netherite must continue through Oathwrought’s established heated-alloy and forging progression.

The Sculk Snapper’s enchanted-book reward limit has been reduced to four.

ENCHANTING

Enchanting Overhauled’s tome appearance rates have been reduced to make valuable tomes more meaningful exploration rewards.

Epic chest chance: 45%

Rare chest chance: 20%

Uncommon chest chance: 8%

Common chest chance: 2%

NAVIGATION

Oathwrought’s map and compass system has been further refined.

A filled map can now activate the minimap while carried anywhere in the player’s inventory rather than occupying a hotbar slot.

The minimap remains positioned in the upper-right corner so GUI Compass coordinates remain clearly visible.

Maps and compasses continue to provide deliberate navigation benefits in place of unrestricted minimap information. Carrying a filled map provides the minimap, while carrying a compass provides coordinates and facing direction.

Automatic deathpoints and unrestricted waypoint conveniences remain disabled.

STARTER GUIDE

The Oathwrought Field Guide and starter empty map have been restored for new players.

The guide now introduces Echoes Beyond, explains the expanded blacksmithing compatibility, describes the purpose of blueprints, molds, casts, heating, quenching, and polishing, and emphasizes the redesigned value of maps and compasses.

A short update book covers only the additions introduced in version 0.5, in-game. Future versions can replace this book while complete historical patch notes remain available through CurseForge.

TECHNICAL FIXES

Spawn Animations has been restored.

The compatibility patch has been updated to version 1.6.1.

A startup crash caused by incorrect Mixin annotation metadata in the inventory-map feature has been corrected.

Both new dimensions have been verified to generate, register, save, and permit travel.

This update is intended for Minecraft 1.21.1 using NeoForge 21.1.248.

A new world is strongly recommended so the new dimensions, structures, terrain, and progression features can appear as intended.
