Nytheria-v1.0.0
What's new

Somewhere out there, an old traveller left a trail of campfires across the world. Her journal is in your hands now. The road starts at the first fire. Where it ends is up to you.
What is Nytheria?
Nytheria is an adventure modpack for Minecraft 1.21.1 on Fabric, with around 400 mods. It keeps the feel of Vanilla and makes the world around it much bigger: new biomes, ruins on every hill, six dimensions and bosses that fight back. When the fighting is done, there are kitchens to run, fields to plant and a home to build.
One book holds it together. The Lamplighter walked this world before you and mapped it by leaving fires behind her. Her journal is your quest book. It shows you everything the pack has and never tells you where to go first.

The Lamplighter's Chronicle
The quest book is the journal of an old traveller who mapped Nytheria by leaving fires behind her. Gold italic lines are her own words. The rest tells you what is out there and, in grey, where to look. It runs on FTB Quests.
- 10 parts, 24 chapters, 399 quests, written for this pack by Navrelis and DerZocker42.
- No chapter depends on another. Every chapter is open from day one. You can read about the sixteen End eyes on your first morning or spend a week fishing before you touch the Nether.
- Chapters run from home and hearth (A Roof and a Pot, Fields and Fences, Still Water) to the road (Ruins and Rumours, Bells in the Mist), the deep (The City That Listens, Below the Bedrock), the Nether (The Air Burns), the sky (A Door of Water and Light), the far shore (Sixteen Lanterns) and the stars (The Gate That Waits), and end with Titans of Nytheria and The Last Page.
- About fifty hidden quests are spread through the book. They only appear once you find what they are about.
- Rewards include choice kits such as the Cook's Bundle or the Wayfarer's Bundle, and five loot caches that also drop from mobs and bosses out in the world.
- Quest progress belongs to your team (FTB Teams), so a group shares one book.
Recipes and loot are covered by EMI and its add-ons, plus Jade, Better Advancements and Almanac.
Worlds to explore
The Overworld is reshaped by Terralith, Oh The Biomes We've Gone and Oh The Trees You'll Grow, with Ecologics, Let's Do: Wilder Nature, Climate Rivers and Explorify filling in the details, and Winter Overhaul and Snow! Real Magic! making the cold biomes feel cold. Underground, YUNG's Better Caves, YUNG's Cave Biomes and Galosphere add crystal caves and new cave biomes.
The Nether is rebuilt with Incendium, BetterNether: Remastered and Eternal Nether.
The End is transformed by Nullscape, BetterEnd: Remastered and YUNG's Better End Island.
Three more dimensions wait beyond the Vanilla ones:
- The Aether, a sky of floating islands with its own villages, moas and three locked dungeons.
- The Otherside, reached through the portal under an ancient city once the Warden gives up its heart (Deeper and Darker).
- Eternal Starlight, a world in permanent dusk with its own metals, bosses and a long material ladder.
Ruins, dungeons and bosses
It usually pays to wander off the path. The world is filled by the YUNG's structure mods (strongholds, dungeons, mineshafts, ocean monuments, temples, Nether fortresses and more), Towns and Towers for villages, When Dungeons Arise, Dungeons and Taverns, Repurposed Structures, Structory, Moog's structure sets and the Medieval Buildings series. Lootr gives every player their own loot from each chest, so nobody in a group misses out.
More than twenty bosses and mini-bosses live across the six dimensions: the Night Lich, Void Blossom, Nether Gauntlet and Obsidilith from Bosses of Mass Destruction, the Blackstone Golem and The Eye from AdventureZ, the three Aether bosses, the Stalker of the Otherside, the Gatekeeper and the Lunar Monstrosity of Eternal Starlight, and the illagers of Illager Invasion, It Takes a Pillage and Friends & Foes. Boss Ultimatum punishes repeated deaths at the same boss: one that keeps killing players heals back up.
The Ender Dragon is a real final boss. True Ending and Dragon Fight give it new attacks, respawning crystals, extra mobs and anti-flight rules, and a Nytheria data pack sets its health to 600 HP, three times Vanilla. Getting there takes work too: Vanilla Eyes of Ender do nothing, and End Remastered replaces them with 16 different eyes hidden in structures, dropped by bosses, traded and crafted. You need twelve of them to open the portal.
Combat and gear
- Better Combat gives each weapon its own swing arc, reach and combos, with dual-wielding.
- Simply Swords adds a large set of weapons, and its unique ones are found only as loot.
- Artifacts, Accessories and Charm of Undying give you gear to build around, including a totem slot that keeps your hands free.
- Immersive Armors, Advanced Netherite and Elytra Slot expand armor and equipment, and DragonLoot turns dragon scales into a full set.
- Easy Magic, Easy Anvils, Enchantment Descriptions and Obscura's Anvil Disenchanting make enchanting clearer and less of a chore.
- You're in Grave Danger keeps your items and XP in a grave when you die, and FTB Ultimine clears a vein or an area in one go.
Cozy life
Between adventures, Nytheria slows down.
- Farmer's Delight and the Let's Do series (Farm & Charm, Bakery, Vinery, HerbalBrews, Meadow, Candlelight, Beachparty) add cooking, baking, aged wine, tea, cheese and full table sets.
- Right Click Harvest, Autochef's Delight and Smarter Farmers keep a farm running, and Tide turns fishing into its own activity with over a hundred fish and a catching minigame.
- Build and decorate with Macaw's roofs, windows, bridges and furniture, Handcrafted, Supplementaries, Amendments, Chipped and Additional Lights.
- Sophisticated Backpacks, Sophisticated Storage and Obscura's Simple Storage keep your things in order, and Effortless Building: Sophisticated places whole shapes at once.
- Waystones, Xaero's Minimap and World Map and Nature's Compass make it easy to find your way back home.
Multiplayer
- Simple Voice Chat for proximity voice, with groups and whispering.
- Open Parties and Claims protects your builds chunk by chunk.
- FTB Teams, FTB Ranks and FTB Essentials, with
/home(up to 3 homes),/back,/rtpand/tpa. - Lootr gives every player their own chest loot.
- e4mc opens a singleplayer world to friends over the internet, with no port forwarding.
- Chat Heads, Sit, Carry On and Crawl for the smaller social touches.
Atmosphere and visuals
- Ambient Sounds, Presence Footsteps and Biome Music for sound.
- Fresh Animations and Fresh Moves, powered by Entity Texture Features and Entity Model Features.
- Falling Leaves, Particular, Visuality, Cool Rain and Wakes for weather and particles.
- Better Clouds, Stellar View, Continuity and ItemPhysic for the sky, connected textures and dropped items.
- A custom Mandala's GUI x Nytheria interface and a quest book theme made for the pack.
Shaders are optional and off by default, so the pack runs well on more PCs. Iris is included, and Complementary Unbound r5.9.3 with Euphoria Patches 1.10.5 is already selected. Turn them on under Video Settings > Shader Packs when your hardware can handle it.
Performance
A pack this size needs a solid base:
- Sodium, Sodium Extra, Iris, ImmediatelyFast, EntityCulling, More Culling and Dynamic FPS
- Lithium, C2ME, ScalableLux, Noisium, FerriteCore, ModernFix and ServerCore
- Very Many Players, Alternate Current and Clumps for busier worlds
Nytheria Optimiser is our own mod. It repairs known problems in other mods' config files at startup, fixes cross-mod issues the pack would otherwise run into, filters out log spam and speeds up resource loading. It adds no items and nothing to set up.
Recommended specs and setup
- Java 21 (the CurseForge launcher handles this for you)
- Recommended: 16 GB of system RAM with 8 GB (8192 MB) allocated, or 32 GB of system RAM with 10 GB (10240 MB) allocated
- Minimum: 8 GB of system RAM with about 4.5 GB (4608 MB) allocated. This works, but it isn't officially supported.
- Set the memory slider in the CurseForge profile settings. Don't give Minecraft much more than half your system RAM.
- Start without shaders, check your frame rate, then decide whether to turn them on.
- The first launch takes a while, because the pack builds its caches. Later launches are faster.
Optional: tuned Java arguments
CurseForge doesn't carry Java arguments over with the pack, so you have to add them yourself. These flags are tuned for Java 21 and G1GC and make garbage collection smoother, with fewer stutters.
In the CurseForge app, open the pack's Profile Options, paste the line into Additional Arguments and keep using the memory slider. Don't add -Xmx or -Xms here, the slider sets those.
-Xss1M -XX:+UseG1GC -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:+AlwaysPreTouch -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:+PerfDisableSharedMem -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=40 -XX:G1HeapRegionSize=16M -XX:G1NewSizePercent=23 -XX:G1ReservePercent=20 -XX:SurvivorRatio=32 -XX:G1MixedGCCountTarget=3 -XX:G1HeapWastePercent=20 -XX:InitiatingHeapOccupancyPercent=15 -XX:MaxTenuringThreshold=1 -XX:+UseStringDeduplication
Only 8 GB of system RAM? Remove -XX:+AlwaysPreTouch from the line. It reserves all allocated memory at startup, which is too much for smaller systems.
