Modestly Unflavored

1.18.1 Slightly Vanilla Flavoured-inspired Modpack for Small Servers

Welcome to the Defacto Unflavored Experience!

Modestly Unflavored (MUF) is a small vanilla-plus modpack heavily inspired by Ramoddi's Slightly Vanilla Flavoured for 1.16.5. I originally played SVF with a small server of close friends, an experience which was easily one of the best I have ever had in Minecraft. Inspired by that awesome modpack, I recreated the feel and experience that Ramoddi's original vision offered, in a modern version of Minecraft and today's modding scene. Apart from the sad lack of TeamAbnormal's mods, this pack has almost everything that Ramoddi's original pack had, only updated to 1.18.1.

Expect a relatively difficult early game, a lengthy mid-game full of exploration and adventure, and a near limitless end-game punctuated by fun building projects. This modpack builds on the original SVF by adding a dedicated economy mod, more opportunities for decoration, and more tools to make large building projects a bit easier to swallow. All these features while remaining true to the "vanilla-plus" experience that SVF promised. See below for changes and additions that Modestly Unflavored makes to the vanilla experience.

What can I expect from Modestly Unflavored?

  • Greater Difficulty
  • More to Grow, Cook, and Eat
  • Adventure Abound, Explorers Wanted
  • Artifacts, Relics, and Trading Cards to Collect
  • Improved Quality of Life
  • Additional Storage Options
  • Fleshed-Out Vanilla-Style Automation with Create

How should I get started?

  • Eat as many new foods as possible: Spice of Life: Carrot Edition gives you additional hearts for every five new foods you consume, up to a max of two additional health bars.
  • Get geared up early on: Iron armor and tools will give you some basic survivability early on, once you are well-kitted, try to clear one of the many Dungeon Crawl dungeons for better tools, weapons, armor, and possibly Artifacts or Relics.
  • Enchants are the name of the game: Due to how hard mobs hit, unenchanted armor breaks very quickly. You will readily find enchanted books throughout your adventures, collect them and slowly improve your tools, armor, and weapons.
  • Build a backpack: Sophisticated Backpacks provides an in-depth portable storage solution for those with no access to shulkers. Adventuring, maintaining food and potions, and clearing dungeons is a lot easier when you have extra space.
  • Never take on mobs in a crowd: It is very, very easy to get overwhelmed by a large group of mobs. Champion mobs have extra abilities and can be distinguished from other mobs by the particles floating around them and the boss health bar they get at the top of the screen. Between how hard mobs hit and how dangerous champions can be on their own, never take on a crowd of mobs up close.
  • Build a Mega Torch: The Mega Torch prevents mobs spawns in a decent radius, which early game can help you clear land for a house or farming without fear of getting messed up by mobs.
  • Go down the Create tech tree: Create offers the ability to increase your ore yield, wheat yield, and automate most vanilla Minecraft tasks. Create allows access to MrCrayfish's Gun Mod's weapons, which are quite powerful when upgraded and enchanted.
  • Upgrade your gear: Early game armor and tools can be upgraded with an amethyst in the smithing table, diamond gear can be upgraded with netherite ingots, and netherite gear has many late-game upgrades available from various materials found in the End and Overworld. Enchanted, upgraded gear will gave you the best chance at survival.
  • Explore everything: Vanilla structures throughout the Overworld and Nether contain the specialized eyes of ender that you will need to access the new End Remastered portal and ultimately the End itself. If you are playing on a server, work together to scavenge the world for these precious, uncraftable items to gain access to the End.
  • Hoard, Collect, Loot, and Scavenge: The Collectibles mod rewards players for digging sand, dirt, stone, and deepslate by providing collectable drops which can be crafted into a loot bag once a complete set is found. These loot bags provide incredibly valuable items which are otherwise incredibly difficult to procure. Completed Buddy Card collections provide players with access to badges that provide powerful and permanent buffs one equipped. Collect mob drops to produce special tools, weapons, and armor from Alex's Mobs.
  • Play with friends: This pack was built with small servers in mind. Build a thriving economy with Calemi's Economy and Adorn's Trading Station. Build gambling dens and betting offices using coins, dice, or other trinkets. The pack provides infinite opportunities for emergent narratives and player interaction.
