What does YAMSB3 even stand for...

Yet Another Modern Skyblock 3

Yet Another Modern Skyblock 3 is an unofficial, community-driven spirtual fork and fixed-up version of Modern Skyblock 3: Departed. Re-engineered with a strict focus on long-term stability, performance optimization, and community feedback, this project breathes new life into the classic Minecraft 1.12.2 skyblock experience.

About the Pack

Modern Skyblock 3 famously departed from the traditional skyblock progression loop. Instead of relying on tedious recipe modifications or the standard Ex Nihilo meta, your entire resource acquisition loop centers around Sky Resources.

Progression is driven entirely by a massive, interconnected questbook featuring over 1,000+ quests. Rather than simply tossing random challenges at you, the quests are carefully engineered to systematically guide you step-by-step through the mechanics of every mod in the pack. In YAMSB3 we are using FTB Quests to power the questbook instead of a very buggy version of Better Questing.

Three Distinct Game Modes

Tailor your gameplay to your exact preferred playstyle using integrated Packmodes:

Kitchen Sink Mode: Pure sandbox freedom. Play through any mod at any time. While you can become incredibly overpowered within your first few hours, the massive quest lines will still provide days of milestone goals. (Not ported to YAMSB3 yet)

Staged Mode: Gated progression without altered recipes. To progress into a new mod, you must first clear its prerequisite mod lines. Items from locked stages cannot be used, adding a tactical layer of difficulty while still letting you rush past mods you don't care for.

Gated Mode: The ultimate challenge. Similar to Staged Mode, but unlocking the next progression tier requires you to explicitly hand in specific items from your current stage. Full automation and mastery of every mod are mandatory to survive. (Not ported to YAMSB3 yet)

Development & Current Status

This initial re-release is fully compatible with existing save worlds from the original modern skyblock 3 aside from the catch of losing all quest progress.

The Future: We are currently hard at work on trying to improve user experience. We are also looking to see if removing GalactiCraft and The Twilight Forest were the right options and if any other 1.12.2 mods you would want to see featured such as possibly Prodigy Tech or even Nature's Aura.

Requirements & Recommendations

To ensure smooth gameplay, please ensure your setup meets the following recommendations:

RAM Allocation: Allocate a minimum of 6–8 GB of RAM to your Minecraft client.

Hardware: A decent, modern multi-core CPU is highly recommended to handle late-game automation factories.

Questbook Note (Pre-YAMSB3): Because the current legacy version of Better Questing handles over 1,000+ quests, it can occasionally be unstable. This is why we rewrote the pack with FTBQuests. Please understand that porting your world will cause the loss of all Quest Progress.

Bug Reports & Contributing

Because this is a community-run project, your feedback and bug reports are vital to making the pack as stable as possible. If you encounter an exploit, progression break, or crash, please open an issue on our GitHub project page with the following:

Ensure your report is written in English.

Verify that you are running the absolute latest version of the pack.

Provide your full crash log uploaded to Pastebin (or a similar text-sharing site).

Specify whether the bug occurred in Singleplayer, LAN, or Multiplayer server.

Want to help build the pack? Code contributions, quest fixes, and optimization tweaks are always welcome. Pull requests are open on our GitHub repository!
