MCFE 1.0.0
What's new
Minecraft Family Edition 1.0.0
This is the one. After a long stretch of betas, MCFE is officially released.
From here on, versions are plain and simple: this is 1.0.0, and every update after it counts up from here. No more dates or letters in the name. If you've been with us through the betas, thank you. You shaped this pack more than you know.
Before you update an existing world: two mods with their own items have stepped aside this time (details below). Anything from them may not carry over, so tuck away what you care about and make a backup before loading in.
The Big One
- Vanilla Backport has taken its big 1.2 step. It now covers the copper age and the nautilus directly, so the separate backports that used to handle those have retired. Van Backport Compat is updated to match.
Added
- Create: Tradeworks and Create: Stam1o Tweaks join the Create lineup.
From the MCFE Workshop
Arborist
- Villages, reimagined. Beginner's Delight villages now grow as small radial hamlets: a well at the heart, homes along spokes around it, and room for the village to fill in as family moves in. A village only reveals itself once a second household arrives, so someone playing alone will never find an empty town waiting for them.
- Village mode is now switched on from the moment a world is created, every time.
- Petting. You can now pet animals with an empty hand. Animals that already do something when you use them have their own Pet key, so nothing gets in the way.
Loam & Vessel
- Backpacks and hats have arrived.
Updated
- No Man's Land, Field Guide, Hearth and Harvest, Amendments, Sophisticated Backpacks, Sophisticated Core, Every Compat, Envelope, Relics, Exposure: Space, JEI Structures, Dusty Decorations, Create: Sound of Steam, Immersive Overlays, Villager Names, AmbientSounds, Skin Layers 3D, Collective, Platform, Puzzles Lib and Mixin Helper are all on newer versions.
Removed
- Copper Age Backport and Nautilus & Spears | Mounts of Mayhem. Vanilla Backport now does their jobs, and running both would only cause trouble. Our thanks to both for carrying the pack this far.
Changed
- Fresh installs now start with render and simulation distance both at 8. Distant Horizons fills in everything beyond that, so the world still feels wide open without asking too much of smaller computers.
- There's a new line on the title screen. You'll know it when you see it.
Coming Up
- Loam & Vessel has more holiday cheer on the wheel.
- The villages have more room to grow.
- The guided journey through the pack is still being built, and we're taking our time to do it right.
