If your PC isn't crafted by the lord himself, turn your shaders down or off & lower the quality and distance of Distant Horizon's rendering.
This pack attempts to deliver an experience where your base's form actually matters, making lawn bases extremely difficult. Bunkers or air bases are suggested, with moats being required if you choose to stay grounded.
Any tech path you choose, whether embers mastery, ars dominance, scguns annihilation, iron's spells destruction, cataclysm upgrades all require you to explore the world. Resource collection is supported by a core of create, with an emphasis on removing the grind with massive deposits of ores & other riches found deep underground.
Mobs are exceedingly intelligent & increase in difficulty as you progress, so properly preparing yourself via tetra & apotheosis is necessary, with your endgame likely being in total domination through magic or dragonsteel.
Automation itself is complex, without being as grind filled as a more technical pack—there are many loopholes to be discovered through the merging of the various tech mods within the pack. Pollution forces you to build your factories intelligently, just as the potent overworld mobs making your base's defenses matter.
While the pack has no central goal, killing the ender dragon is the ultimate test of your gear, and is not to be taken lightly.
Tips:
Campfires are the lifeblood of your early game, as they block nearby mob spawns.
Pressing Left Alt (by default) lets you access your building menu—empowering your ability to create walls and other defenses.
Learning tetra will improve the quality of your experience by a LOT.
Do not fight dragons until you are in the mid-game.
When you die, you will spawn near your death point, rather than at home. Plan for this.
Until you're able to find a means of personal flight, hippocampus or horses from raids are excellent mounts.
The end is devoid of air—bring a breath potion or a diving helmet to survive.
Embers dials work on all modded blocks.
There are 3 sources of chunk loading. Create: Powerloaders require a ghast and rotational power to function, and are highly customizable. Ars' Ritual of Arcane Permanence is expensive, and requires source, but covers a wide area. If only a single chunk is needed, throw a nether star onto a lodestone—this consumes no power.
Use an anthralite respirator or diving helmet in a crafting table with the corrosponding filter ingredient to protect from select pollutants: carbon: leaves; sulfur, carbon monoxide, coal dust, methane: wool; dust, nitrogen: paper; hydrogen: silver; oxygen: string
