Overview:
In this world magic is tangible and real just like science. In this world science is limitless and incredible just like magic. Now, you only need to choose.
Will you be a Magician and harness the power of nature to do your bidding?
Will you be a Scientist, who creates machines to complete your tasks?
As you look at the stars, what will you see? Planets to explore? Raw power waiting to be infused in you?
When you explore underground, what will you feel? The flow of magic? Materials to strengthen your body?
This is your personal reality.
This is your world.
This is Magicians vs Scientists.
Serious Description:
In this modpack, as you spawn you receive a questbook and a bonus xp level (because why not). Before you do anything, open the book and pick a side: Scientist or Magician, by claiming the reward of one of the two quests. As soon as you do this, your inventory will be cleared, you will see a brief note on the chat and you will receive the profession you chose. From now on, you are only able to craft and use the items from your side, and everything else becomes obscure or "unfamiliar" to you. (i.e. a Scientist can craft and place a solar panel, but cannot craft or place a magic crystal and vice versa for a Magician). Be careful as if you don't choose a side and lose your questbook you will only be able to do vanilla Minecraft stuff. You will not be allowed to change your side unless you cheat. Also, technically you could become both a Magician and a Scientist through cheats, but this kills the point of the pack so I won't tell how to do it unless asked.

Scientist features:
Abilities: Control electromagnetism, achieve teleportation, manipulate vectors or deviate electrons!
Armor: A fancy modular power suit to achieve all your defense dreams and tinker with cool gadgets!
Automation: Auto mining, auto sorting, auto power generation!
Ore yield 5x: Get filthy rich as your automated machines extract even the smallest bits of metal from the ground!
Space: Tired of Earth? A pesky Magician is bothering you? Take your rocket and establish your colony on Mars!
...and much more!
Magician features:
Perks: Improve your own body to achieve supernatural feats!
Rituals: Just like beacons, with more options and more powerful!
Spells: Discover the most powerful spells of the realm and use them to shape the world as you desire!
Item duplication: That annoying scientist is bragging about how rich they got with machines? Transmute stone into diamonds in front of them and watch their jaw drop!
Mana: A mysterious fluid-like substance to use in your pursuit of the occult!
...and much more!
The original concept:
Each and every person's perception of reality necessarily modifies it. Quantum physics itself points out that the simple act of observing something forces it to behave differently. In psychology, we learn that the way we decide to react to what we perceive affects our actions, and therefore the world around us. Philosophers wonder whether reality is what it is because of how we see it.
Now, allow me to take all that to an extreme...
Tutorial/Tips:
I will likely start an English singleplayer let's play. I'll link it here. Don't expect lots of editing though, as of now I still have a full time job that takes most of my day.
I will likely start an Italian multiplayer let's play. I'll link it here. I'd like to do it in English but my friends and I don't feel comfortable to talk in English to each other as it's not our first language.
Tip #1: Choose your side AS SOON AS YOU SPAWN.
Tip #2: Allocate enough RAM. The pack runs smoothly on 4 GB RAM on my PC, but you might notice in my videos I allocated 8 GB to it for no particular reason. I'm also pretty sure you need less than 4GB
Tip #3: The magic side tends to generate more particles and entities. The science side doesn't have as much, so turning them off might be a problem for your Magician experience, but you might not even notice it during your Scientist gameplay.
Tip #4: Rather than destroying the landscape, use Aroma1997's mining dimension as soon as you can get there. It's very easy and saves time.
Tip #5: The Mining Dimension is flat and monsterless, making it ideal to find villages.
Tip #6: The Mining Dimension is in a constant noon. Great for sun-related things like Solar Panels.
Tip #7: Focus on Vanilla-style objectives for a few days, before starting out with magic or machines.
Tip #8: I suggest Magicians to craft a wizardry wand as their first magic item, since it requires you to use it a bunch before you can upgrade it. Plus, you can craft the first spell which works as an early game ranged weapon.
Tip #9: I suggest Scientists to start out with an enrichment chamber. It will double ore yield, making further progression in any science side mod easier.
Tip #10: A bunch of Kill Tables over hoppers can give you a huge amount of monster drops automatically. Honestly, it's almost overpowered.
Multiplayer:
This pack works for singleplayer games, but I suggest playing with at least a friend (either on a server or LAN) to get a better experience. Whether you declare war between the two sides or you decide to collaborate to create a better world, your game will benefit greatly of the added variety.
Personally, my dream is to see a server with this modpack and some kind of society instaurated. I'm very interested in seeing how this whole thing would unfold.
Plans:
-More quests to help you get started.
-Change the way Scientists see magic blocks and vice versa to further underline how your way to see the world changes it.
-Magicians will see a generic circuit block instead of any machine and Scientists will see a bunch of generic decoration blocks instead of altars.
-Still unsure whether to implement this or not. May change in the future mainly based on feedback.
-Fancy main menu.
-Names of helpers in questbook/splash texts.
Customization
Need help configurating? Feel like some things are not balanced? Leave a comment either here or under one of my videos. I will consider your suggestion and explain how to customize the pack to meet your needs!
IMPORTANT! I do NOT own any of the mods. At all. None. Credits to the respective authors.
All I did was choose the mods, set the configuration files and add a bunch of scripts to make a more balanced game experience and separate the Magician and Scientist sides. If you want to make videos with my modpack, you only need to leave a link to this page. But I'd also appreciate if you let me know, it's not required but I will gladly check it out!
Do you want to make a public server with this modpack? I'm glad you do! Again, leave a link to this page so anyone can see it easily. Plus, I'd like to know (again, not required). You don't have to give me access or anything related to the server, just inform me that you made one.
Do you want to use this modpack on your own or in a private server? Well of course you can, I mean why would I publish this in the first place, if not to let people have fun with it? Also, it's not like I can possibly find out how you are using the pack in this case.
I created this modpack on my own and without any knowledge of other modpacks of a similar name (I learned one exists the moment I tried to submit this one. It is discontinued, anyway, and most mods are different.).
