How & Why I Made This
I love Minecraft, yet I get bored after 30 minutes. An infinite game does not necessarily mean infinite fun. Over the last few years, I've been heavily involved with the Dark Souls series, among others, but I always have a soft spot for Minecraft. One day, I saw a video that effectively transformed Minecraft into Dark Souls and said, "Wow, this is fantastic! But, how would it actually work?" See, Dark Souls is a story driven, semi-linear, finite game. Minecraft is a sandbox, open world, infinite game. They're not made to go together. However, the more I thought about it, the more one particular question stood out to me:
"How can I make Minecraft as fun as possible, while taking elements from the greatest games of all time?"
This is the result.
What You Need To Know
- This is a very difficult modpack so prepare to die. Alot.
- Set your spawn and heal at campfires. There is natural regeneration, but it only works very slowly outside of combat.
- You can skip the night (sometimes), but mobs no longer burn. You will be both the hunter and the hunted.
- The modpack is genuinely beautiful... but don't let that fool you.
- Villagers are key! Each of the 13 professions have a custom trade table designed by me to make an actual functioning economy.
- You can probably find exploits. But, in some cases like DRAGONS, it simply won't matter. Skill and strategy will.
- The game is beatable.
- There is only one difficulty: Hard.
- Recommended with friends on LAN or a server. The more in your party, the less you get bullied.
- This modpack is what you make of it. If you choose to treat it like Minecraft, then it's a very hard Minecraft. Same goes for a Souls-Like, but more lightweight.
