Do you remember all those years ago playing Minecraft on your Xbox 360, PS3, PS Vita or even Xbox One and PS4? That was the magic of Minecraft: Legacy Edition, formerly just Console Edition. Unfortunately with the better Together update of 2017, the game was left in the dust but now it is back, and better than ever. on Java 1.12.2. I'm aware that other versions advanced past 1.12.2 and these will be coming later either once I am happy with the state of "Xbox One Edition" or if enough people want a specific version
What's changed?
Main Menu
The main menu has:
- A panorama of the TU69 Tutorial world
- The Minecraft Xbox One Edition Logo (there will be alternate versions for Xbox 360/PS3/PS4 etc in the future)
- Centralised buttons
- COMING SOON - controller hints at the bottom of the screen
Currently no other UI has been reworked so singleplayer, multiplayer, mods and options will look like normal
Gameplay
Gameplay changes are:
- "Paper Doll" top right that shows an outside perspective of the player
- Screen tilt (roll) when turning and gliding
- "1.8" pvp mechanics (no attack cooldown and blocking)
- Held item tooltips which show durability and enchantments of the held item
- Raised hotbar
- Full controller support - the controller hints can be turned on or off and can look like Xbox 360 or PlayStation buttons. Controls are customisable and all buttons can be rebound in the in game config
- Discord status will look like you are playing the game on your Xbox
What's to come?
There's still much to do including:
- Custom superflat generation GUI
- Full UI remake
- Essential Integration for easy multiplayer
- Coordinates displaying on maps
- Renamed items being yellow
- Nostalgic worlds (tutorials and minigame worlds) installed by default
- Customisation for all platforms - Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, PSVita, Wii U, Nintendo Switch
