First you start in a in the World.First you start with Wood Tools.For better Tools you have upgrade your stats.Then you have better stats and Tools you can go and explore.You can fight Bosses or explore new Dungeons.In the Nether are lots of new Structurs and bioms.Then you want to the End,you have to collect all various Endereyes.You have to fight Bosses or explore other dimensions or explore Dungeons.But its worth,because there are more Dungeons and Bioms in the End.There are a lot more Bioms in the Overworld and lot more blocks to build.
There are a lot of new Items.I think the hard things are the stats and the new mobs.The stats are worth because you get rewards for better stats.The new Dungeons have a lot nice items and are dangerous.You have much to explore.It resembles an RPG.
