JimBob's Medieval Thingy
The Chronicle of the Broken Era
Before the clocks began to tick and the steam hissed through the iron pipes of modernity, there was the Imperium Solis. It was a realm of profound grace, of disciplined steel and cherry-blossom winds—a civilization that touched the heavens with its ancient, masterful weaponry. But history is a fickle wheel, and the Imperium shattered. Now, their once-glorious citadels lie buried beneath the roots of silent groves, their power forgotten by the living, leaving behind only whispers and rusted artifacts for the bold to unearth.
Into the vacuum of that collapse rose the Regnum Aurelius. For a time, they were the masters of the continent, swallowing the ruins of the Solis and casting their gaze upon the Tribus Borealis and the Tribus Occidentalis. They waged war until the ground turned to ash, but the cost was their soul. Now, the Regnum Aurelius is a kingdom on the brink—a rotting pillar of a once-great dynasty, fracturing from within and besieged from without.
But in this epoch of decay, a new order stirs. From the industrial soot and the promise of progress emerges Mechanica Oceanus. They do not rely on the prayers of the past or the broken blades of the old empires. They are masters of cog, steam, and iron.
Your Role in the Ruin You are a traveler in this fractured world. The lands are dangerous, but the potential for greatness is limitless.
- Construct the Future: Through the power of Minecolonies, you are the architect of a new age. Build a sanctuary that can withstand the collapse, recruit villagers to your cause, and train them into soldiers who will hold the line against the encroaching chaos.
- The Age of Steel and Steam: While some cling to tradition, you may choose the path of Mechanica Oceanus. Harness the Create Mod to automate your survival. When your walls are tested, wield the steampunk weaponry of Create: Alloyed Guns—a pragmatic, mechanical choice for those who value efficiency over the theatrics of the past.
- The Paths of the Ascendant: For those who reject the cold logic of steam, the mystical arts remain, though they demand a heavy toll.
- The Path of Strength: For the warrior who scorns magic, you must seek out the great beasts that roam the wilds. Slay these legendary monsters, offer their lives to the altar, and you shall be rewarded with brute force, unyielding vitality, and the undying glory that the heroes of old once knew.
- The Basic Path of Magic: For the scholar, there is the foundational magic—a steady, reliable study of the arcane that offers consistent growth for those with the patience to learn.
- Churches and Cults: For those who hunger for forbidden power, true mastery requires sacrifice. You must offer the blood of the slain, the lives of your enemies, or even your own essence to your deity. Yet know this: the gods of this world are greedy. The most potent offerings—the sacrifices that grant the most terrible and magnificent rewards—are those of your own coin. Prosperity is the ultimate offering to the divine.
The Road Ahead The world is vast, and your journey is just beginning. Our Questline (Work in Progress) will guide your hand as you carve your name into history. Whether you are establishing a humble village, building a sprawling empire of automation, or ascending to godhood through the dark arts, every action you take shifts the balance of power.
Your economy is yours to dictate; with the SDM Shop, you may customize the flow of trade to suit your specific server progression, ensuring that whether you are a merchant, a mage, or a warlord, you hold the keys to the future.
The Empire has fallen. The Kingdom is failing. The Nation of Steam is rising. What will you become?
Technical Overview
This modpack is built around a carefully selected mix of medieval settlement gameplay, Create-based automation, exploration, and enhanced NPC systems. It is designed to give players a structured but flexible experience where progression feels meaningful, towns feel alive, and the world offers plenty to discover.
At the core of the pack is MineColonies-style colony building, supported by several villager and worker-related mods that expand how settlements function. Mods such as Villager Comfort, Villager Clock Tower, Villager Extend, Villager Follows, and Workers help make villages feel more active and immersive, while also supporting the pack’s focus on NPC-driven progression and town management.
For the industrial side of the pack, Create and its related additions provide the main technical backbone. Mods like Vintage Improvements, Voltaic, and Zinc Create Recipe help reinforce the steampunk and mechanical identity of the pack, giving players more ways to automate, engineer, and build complex systems. This creates a strong contrast between the medieval setting and the advanced machinery available through progression.
Exploration is also a major part of the experience. Waystones and Waystones Teleport Pets improve travel and convenience, while Xaero’s World Map gives players a reliable way to navigate the world. Structure mods such as Wabi-Sabi Structures, YUNG’s Better Dungeons, and YUNG’s Better Mineshafts add more variety and reward exploration with more interesting places to find.
Combat and atmosphere are supported by mods like Wither Eggs, Withering Boon, and Z Medieval Music, helping the pack maintain a darker, more immersive medieval tone. Together, these systems create a world that feels alive, dangerous, and worth building in.
The pack also includes a customizable SDM shop and a questline that is still a work in progress, allowing for future progression updates and server-specific balancing. Overall, the modpack is designed to blend settlement management, automation, exploration, and combat into one cohesive medieval experience
