The world is no longer the same. Minecraft as you know it does not exist. Trees need time to grow large, torches will burn out, wood tools no longer exist, animals are capable of living without your need, and finally the darkness will be the scariest thing you face. Darkness enhances hostile mobs skill to hunt you down, your activity will bring hordes flooding in. Survival as you know it will not be the same, survival will be your goal but far from easy to achieve.
