Industrial Rivalry
Build. Trade. Defend. Conquer.
Industrial Rivalry is a multiplayer-focused Create modpack built around one simple idea: every player builds their own civilization, develops their own industry, trades with everyone else, and eventually discovers that diplomacy has an expiration date.
The pack is best played with one or more friends. Everyone establishes their own base, infrastructure and territory. Early on, cooperation is encouraged. Help each other get started, exchange resources, trade equipment and build connections between your settlements. As those settlements grow into proper industrial powers, the world slowly becomes less about surviving Minecraft and more about deciding who controls what.
Trade does not have to stop just because you are at war either. If your enemy owns something you need, keep buying it. There is nothing technically preventing you from selling somebody the steel they later use to manufacture the bomb that destroys your railway station.
That is simply good business.
Build a Civilization
With support for multiple MineColonies colonies, your civilization does not need to exist inside one enormous city. Establish mining settlements near valuable resources, lumber towns surrounded by forests, agricultural communities, remote outposts and whatever else your economy requires.
This gives logistics an actual purpose. Resources have to move between settlements, factories and military installations, meaning trains, roads, aircraft and other transport systems can become real supply lines instead of expensive decoration.
Naturally, this also means your infrastructure becomes strategically important.
Your railway network is extremely useful.
Your railway network is therefore a target.
Plan accordingly.
Create forms the industrial backbone of Industrial Rivalry. Build factories, processing lines, power plants, railways and automated production systems to support your growing civilization. Industry exists for a reason here. You need materials for construction, ammunition, vehicles, infrastructure and whatever completely reasonable military project you have decided requires several thousand steel plates.
Food matters too. Easy effectively infinite food solutions have been removed so Farmer's Delight and proper agriculture remain relevant. Farms, kitchens and food production can become another part of your supply network.
Your military may have tanks and aircraft.
It still requires lunch.
Design Your Own War Machines
Aeronautics and its surrounding addons allow you to build functional aircraft, armored vehicles, ships and other moving creations.
There is one important idea behind the system:
Design your own vehicles.
You do not need to manually rebuild every tank forever. Build your prototype, discover why the first version should never have been allowed near a battlefield, improve it, save the finished design as a schematic and then manufacture as many copies as you need.
The point is not making construction unnecessarily painful. The point is forcing everyone to be creative at least once.
Over time, every civilization can develop its own recognizable tanks, aircraft, ships and military equipment. Your first terrible prototype can eventually become a proper production model, followed by a Mk II, followed by a Mk III because apparently adding another gun fixes structural problems.
The World Is Also Trying to Kill You
Industrial Rivalry is not built around endlessly fighting increasingly ridiculous bosses. The major threats are much simpler:
The world outside your walls, and the people living on the other side of the map.
During Blood Moons, The Hordes can send large groups of infected mobs swarming through the world. The hordes are intentionally strengthened to compensate for the firearms available to players.
This keeps TaCZ weapons from feeling like ridiculously overpowered toys. They are useful tools for dealing with a world that occasionally sends an unreasonable number of zombies toward your front gate.
At the same time, firearms make the Hordes feel like an actual defensive event instead of twenty minutes of hitting zombies with a sword while reconsidering your life choices.
Walls matter. Guards matter. Fortified settlements matter. Remote colonies need protection. Your beautiful lumber town three kilometers away from the capital may eventually discover that three MineColonies guards and optimism are not an adequate defense strategy.
A Little Magic Is Fine
Industrial Rivalry still includes Ars Nouveau, Apotheosis, Relics and Artifacts.
Magic is not the main theme, but Minecraft already contains enchantments, undead creatures, magical dimensions and portals to hell, so pretending a little spellcasting somehow ruins the realism would be strange.
These systems provide useful abilities, equipment progression, artifacts and quality-of-life improvements without turning the pack into a fantasy boss rush.
Industry remains the focus.
Magic simply makes life slightly easier while you industrialize the countryside.
The Geneva Suggestion
Giving several people independent economies, artillery, aircraft and high explosives without any guidance may produce undesirable results.
For this reason, Industrial Rivalry has the Geneva Suggestion, a set of recommended warfare guidelines designed to keep wars fun, destructive and recoverable.
The purpose is not to prevent bombing, sabotage or large-scale destruction. Those are part of the experience. The goal is simply to stop one night of questionable decision-making from permanently deleting weeks of work.
Major destruction is much easier to enjoy when a recent backup exists.
The Geneva Suggestion is therefore not here to stop the war.
It is here to make sure there can be another one.
Industrial Rivalry
Build your civilization. Establish colonies. Automate resources. Create trade networks. Design your own military vehicles. Defend your settlements against hordes. Cooperate with your neighbors while it benefits you.
Then eventually discover that the peaceful railway connecting your economies has become a strategically important bridge.
Create something worth defending.
Then give everyone else a reason to attack it.
