ImmersiveRPG & MineColonies

📜 v0.4.0-Beta1 is here — and it's the biggest quest update this pack has ever seen. No new world required this time; this update is almost entirely about content, not core world/generation settings. Jump straight in with your existing save. Scroll down to the "Quest Overhaul Has Arrived" section below for the full rundown.

🔎 Overview

Parameter Specification (EN)
🎮 Minecraft 1.21.1
⚙️ Modloader NeoForge (v21.1.248)
👥 Audience RPG fans, colony builders, survival veterans
⚔️ Difficulty Challenging but fair (Tuned scaling)

ImmersiveRPG & MineColonies combines a dynamic RPG system with a living colony simulation and heavily expanded world generation. The goal is a long-term survival world where you truly “grow” – as a player, as a hero with classes and a skill tree, and as the leader of your own colony.

⚠️ Things you should know

📜 The Quest Overhaul Has Arrived

This is the single biggest content update this pack has ever had: 21 brand-new, fully-branched quest chapters, hundreds of quests, and the RPG system now has a real backbone from your first steps to true endgame gear.

All six original RPG classes are done. Warrior, Rogue, Archer, Paladin, Priest — every single one now has its own quest chapter covering Skills, Armor, Weapons and Bonus Gear, with real itemized progression instead of a handful of generic checkboxes.

  • Full gear progression trees — every armor slot and weapon type has its own tracked upgrade path, from your starting kit all the way to true endgame gear.
  • Real build choices, not just bigger numbers — most classes fork into two genuinely different endgame specializations near the top of their armor tree (think support/tank vs. damage), each with its own unique set bonuses.
  • A reason to actually open JEI's AdvancedLootInfo tab — Relics, unique Jewelry, and legendary Arsenal weapons are signposted right in the quest book, so you know what to hunt for instead of stumbling into it by accident.

And Wizard didn't get one chapter — it got three. Arcane, Fire and Frost are treated as three fully separate specializations, each with their own spellbook, their own armor line, their own weapons, and their own endgame gear choices.

RPG Series Plus is here too. Berserker, Forcemaster, Bard, and Elemental Wizards (Terra/Aqua/Wind — three more full chapters on their own) all now have complete quest chapters of their own, guiding you through their unique weapons, armor sets, and specializations.

And it's not just the RPG classes. MineColonies — the other half of this pack's name — now has a full 76-quest colony-building progression, taking you from your first hut choice all the way through production, research, military, and population milestones. Sophisticated Storage, Sophisticated Backpacks, Tom's Simple Storage, and Cooking for Blockheads all got their own dedicated chapters too, plus a Miscellaneous chapter for Quivers, Rune Pouches, and leftover loot, and a Jewelry chapter walking you through all six craftable gemstone lines.

This pack finally has the guided, hand-crafted quest experience it always deserved — go open your Quest Book and see for yourself. As always, this is a work in progress built with your feedback in mind — let us know what you think!

🚀 Core Features

⚔️ RPG & Progression:

  • Large Class Variety & Hardcore Balancing: Choose from a massive class variety via RPG Series + More RPG Classes (Paladin, Priest, Wizards, Rogues, Archers, Berserker, Witcher, Bard, and more) paired with a deep Skill Tree. Progression is kept perfectly fair thanks to Modern Enchantments Limiter (a custom mod made by the pack creator!), which prevents hyper-overpowered gear by hard-capping enchantment levels.
  • Apotheosis Ecosystem: Fully expanded via Apothic Attributes, Enchanting, Spawners, and Apothic Compats/Category Compat for perfectly integrated item-affixes.
  • Custom Weaponry: Craft highly custom tools and weapons via Silent Gear, Silent Gems, and Productive Metalworks, or wield legendary blades from Simply Swords combined with Combat Roll.
  • Balanced Scaling: Dynamic Difficulty & Dungeon Difficulty scale smoothly over time without becoming unfair.

🏰 Colonies & Building (Deeply Integrated):

  • Full MineColonies integration packed with performance and behavioral extensions (Tweaks, Pathfinding Edition, TownTalk, Compatibility Addon, and Disable Abandoned Structures).
  • Keep track of your village seamlessly using JadeColonies and MineColonies: Jade Crops Addon.
  • Includes Safepaths for organic pathway creation by your citizens to navigate your towns much faster.

🗺️ World Generation & Exploration:

  • Massive, beautiful landscapes built with Tectonic, Terralith, and Dynamic Trees (with dedicated compat for BetterEnd, BetterNether, Quark, and Terralith). Further enriched with Autumnity, Anvironmental, and Streams Reflowing for more varied, natural-feeling terrain.
  • Structurify Balancing: All massive structure mods (When Dungeons Arise + Seven Seas, Adventure Dungeons, Mo'Structures, Dungeons and Taverns) have been pushed far away from the spawn area (up to 1500+ blocks) to protect your early game. Global structure overlap prevention is enabled to ensure a clean world.
  • Includes YUNG's full suite, ChoiceTheorem's Overhauled Village, and Guard Villagers.
  • Loot Integration: Unifies loot tables across all structure mods for a consistent progression experience.
  • Chunky is bundled for pregenerating your world's distant terrain — see below.

🖥️ Recommended: Pregenerating your world for the smoothest Distant Horizons experience

Running your own dedicated server? The server pack includes two text files worth reading before you start pregenerating — DHChunkySetupGuide.txt and TestingNotes_v0.3.0Beta2.txt — that walk you through the Chunky + Distant Horizons setup in detail and explain the reasoning behind it (why both are used together, and what to watch out for).

Distant Horizons works out of the box — as you explore, it will build up distant terrain around you automatically. But if you'd rather have a wide area ready to go from the start (especially on a dedicated server with multiple players), you can pregenerate it upfront using Chunky, which is bundled with the pack.

Singleplayer: running Chunky's commands requires cheats to be enabled for your world. If you created your world without cheats, open it via "Open to LAN" with cheats enabled to be able to enter commands in chat.

Basic commands (server console, or in-game chat if you have OP/cheats):

/chunky world minecraft:overworld
/chunky center 0 0
/chunky radius 5000
/chunky shape square
/chunky start
  • Radius is in blocks, not chunks (use e.g. 5000c if you want to specify chunks instead).
  • Check progress with /chunky progress, pause with /chunky pause, resume with /chunky continue.

If you're pregenerating a large area: we recommend restarting your server every 40,000-50,000 processed chunks rather than running the whole thing in one go. On very large, uninterrupted runs we've seen memory build up enough to cause server hangs — a clean restart avoids this and Chunky picks up right where it left off with /chunky continue.

Joining an already-pregenerated world for the first time will sync the available distant terrain to your client in the background — this should be quick, but if you notice it taking unusually long, let us know in the comments with your connection details so we can look into adjusting the sync settings further.

Optional: once you're happy with your pregenerated area, setting a matching world border (e.g. /worldborder set 10000 for a 5000-block pregen radius, a vanilla Minecraft command) keeps players from wandering past it into unpregenerated terrain.

👹 Bosses & Mobs:

  • A massive boss roster featuring L_Ender’s Cataclysm (with Apothic Cataclysm balance), Bosses of Mass Destruction, Remnant Bosses, and Brutal Bosses.
  • Atmospheric fauna from Mowzie’s Mobs, Deeper and Darker, and Alex’s Mobs (Unofficial).

🎭 Atmosphere & Immersion:

  • Sound Physics Remastered + AmbientSounds 6 for highly realistic, immersive 3D audio.
  • Living World Graphics: Powered by Fresh Animations + extensions (Player, Spiders, Skeletons, Scorpions, Quark) running flawlessly on EMF & ETF. Visually enhanced via Falling Leaves, Visuality, Subtle Effects, Particle Rain, and Nyf's Spiders.

🔧 QoL & Interface:

  • Just Enough Items (JEI) as the singular, fast recipe engine, accompanied by JER, JEP, JEB, and JEED.
  • Advanced Storage: Sophisticated Backpacks & Storage (with Create integration), Tom's Simple Storage, Functional Storage, Pocket Storage, and Iron Chests.
  • Lootr integration guarantees that container loot is instanced for every individual player.
  • Enhanced JourneyMap (paired with my own custom extra info slots mod), FTB suite (Chunks, Ultimine), AppleSkin, and Health Bars.

⚙️ Performance & Tech (The Ultimate Stability Stack):

  • Advanced optimization via Sodium (v0.8.13-beta.2), Sodium Extra, Reese's Options, Lithium, FerriteCore, ModernFix, ImmediatelyFast, BadOptimizations, ScalableLux, and Distant Horizons.
  • Asynchronous Engine: Powered by C2ME (Concurrent Chunk Management Engine) for multi-threaded chunk loading, Chunk Sending to prevent network lag, and Fast Async World Save to completely remove auto-save lag spikes. Packet Fixer and Connectivity protect your multiplayer sessions against heavy NBT payloads and time-outs.
  • Chunky for world pregeneration (see World Generation section above).

📈 Performance Note

Distant Horizons is configured to only build its distant view from chunks that already exist, rather than generating them live — this keeps performance smooth by default. As you explore, it fills in naturally; for the best experience from the start (especially on dedicated servers), see the optional Chunky pregeneration guide above.

💡 Recommended Java Arguments: For a flawless experience, it is highly recommended to use Java 21+ along with Generational ZGC. Add these lines to your launcher startup parameters to get perfectly smooth TPS curves: -XX:+UseZGC -XX:+ZGenerational
