Idiot Sandbox is your perfect starter creative mode server modpack to build your own modpack off of that should give you a great idea of what performance mods you should get to significantly boost the performance of Minecraft on both the server and client side.
There is no major gameplay altering mods unless you consider voice chat a huge feature :D.
This pack is designed entirely around the ability to use and run great with shaders.
In the future I am going to consider adding more mods that add more blocks or make building have more tools for creative mode.
