"Release Candidate, occasionally referred to as either Gamma or Delta, is the stage of software development where the Beta version has potential to become a stable product, which is practically ready for release unless significant bugs emerge."
HDV is an experience that aims to capture that bygone era of experimentation from the late 2000's and early 2010's, while also ditching any of the old and unfavorable "jank" that those past versions had.
