The Hooligang SMP Modpack
A modpack built for a small friend group SMP running on Fabric. The idea was to keep it as close to vanilla as possible while making sure the game actually runs well and has a few quality of life things that just make sense.
Performance: Sodium swaps out the rendering engine for a much better one, ImmediatelyFast and Entity Culling help with frames especially around farms and busy areas. On the server side, Lithium sorts out mob AI and block ticking, FerriteCore and ModernFix keep RAM usage down, C2ME spreads chunk loading across CPU cores so exploring doesn't tank the server, and Krypton cleans up how data is sent between the server and each player. All of this means the game runs noticeably smoother than vanilla without changing how anything actually plays.
Visuals: Distant Horizons pushes your view distance way beyond what vanilla allows without killing performance, so the world actually looks and feels massive. Iris Shaders adds shader support on top of Sodium if you want the game to look a bit nicer. Continuity adds connected texture support so blocks like glass look seamless when placed together.
Quality of Life: Jade shows you what you're looking at on your HUD which sounds small but you'll miss it when it's gone. FallingTree makes whole trees fall when you chop one log. Trash Slot adds a bin to your inventory for quickly deleting unwanted items. Villager Trade Cycler lets you reroll trades without the whole breaking and replacing workstation dance. Easy Magic adds a reroll button to the enchanting table and keeps your items in it after closing. Just Enough Items adds a searchable list of every item and recipe in the game so you never have to guess how to craft something. Inventory Sorting lets you sort any inventory or chest instantly with a middle click. Swing Through Grass lets you hit mobs through flowers and tall grass without accidentally punching the ground. Right Click Harvest lets you right click any fully grown crop to harvest and replant it instantly. BetterF3 makes the debug screen actually readable. Mod Menu gives you an in-game list of everything installed. Gamma Utils lets you push brightness beyond the vanilla limit so caves aren't a nightmare. Loadstone turns vanilla Lodestones into chunk loaders so farms and machines stay active while you're away.
Communication: Simple Voice Chat adds proximity voice chat in game. The closer you are to someone the louder they are, works without any external software.
