What's new

OLLOWREACH 1.0.0 — first public release

RLCraft, brought up to Minecraft 1.20.1. Nearly every feature rebuilt, and the ones whose mods never made the jump were written from scratch.

The survival tax is back, in full

  • No natural healing. Bandages, a full night's sleep, or Regeneration. Food fills your hunger and does nothing for your wounds.
  • First Aid limb damage — arms, legs and head tracked separately. A wrecked leg slows you; a wrecked head kills you outright.
  • Thirst, with dirty water that will make you ill.
  • Temperature that swings with biome, weather, time of day and armour.
  • No tree punching. Knap flint, make a knife and an axe, earn your first log.
  • Danger is not graded by distance. There is no safe radius around spawn.

Progression is something you spend for

  • 633 weapons, tools and armour pieces gated behind skill levels, tiered from the mods' real damage numbers rather than guesswork.
  • Skills are raised by spending XP levels — the same XP that buys heart crystals. Every permanent heart is a level you didn't put into combat.
  • Two new skills: Foraging and Alchemy.
  • Mount saddles regated — a dragon saddle costs a troll tusk and dragon scales, not eight diamonds.

Rebuilt from scratch: the HOLLOWREACH mod

Rustic and PotionCore never left 1.12, so their content was rewritten for 1.20.1 as a single companion mod:

  • 12 forageable herbs you can replant and farm
  • Crops that climb stakes, and grapes strung along rope
  • Three fruit trees, one of which turns a plant into iron
  • A brewing chain — tread fruit in a tub (wear boots), ferment for three days, add a herb to make an elixir
  • Alchemic condensers, where Horsetail buys duration and Marsh Mallow buys potency — never both
  • Beekeeping, wood sets, and 39 decoration blocks
  • 19 potions vanilla cannot brew, as drink, splash and lingering
  • Combat perks that scale with your Attack skill

And a book that explains the parts the game won't

  • 8 chapters, 52 quests covering the first ten minutes, the healing model, how skills are spent, and the whole herbalism to alchemy chain.
  • It never locks anything, and it hands out no XP — that would undercut the economy it's teaching you.

Requirements

  • Minecraft 1.20.1 / Forge 47.4.10
  • 6 GB RAM recommended, 4 GB minimum

This pack is difficult on purpose.
