🎨 Design Philosophy 🎨

Herald's Craft 2 is built on 7 core mechanical ideas:

Fair challenge drives progression. Without challenge, mechanics begin to lose purpose.
Anyone can play. This pack is built for lower-end rigs, standalone singleplayer, and multiplayer.
Play how you want. Problems have more than one solution.
Immersion is paramount. Only a choice few HUD additions have been made.
No Quest Walls. If you have the resources, you can craft it.
Combat should be fun, smart, and not annoying. Many cheap mob mechanics have been tuned or disabled.
Same ol' Minecraft. It is still the same game, but with more.

🎮 Gameplay & Core Challenges 🎮

Herald's Craft 2 brings a fresh combination of several new challenges to the table that require users to think outside the box, such as:

A worldborder that starts 200 blocks close to spawn, that then can be expanded by right-clicking with Totems of Undying, which are now craft-able.
If you stay in any one dimension for 200 consecutive minutes, you gain permanent Blindness and Invisibility until your jump to another dimension, then the timer starts again. Time is regenerated in dimensions you are not standing in. Killing the Ender Dragon removes the timer mechanic for yourself.
The recipes for Wood and Stone Pickaxes, of all varieties, are disabled. Decipher previously unexploited methods to unlock mining.
Most food rots in 4 days. Methods exist that substantially prolong food shelf life.
Any area absent of sky light or other light sources is pitch black. Effective use of lighting utilities is of heightened importance.
The 4th, 5th, and 6th nights of the 8-day lunar cycle are darker than the other nights. Watch your back.
Most mobs can aggro players through walls from a 48 block distance, and some can dig and climb to get to players. Defensive structure design is recommended.
Nighttime cannot be skipped via bed usage. Good hunting.
Full mob griefing is enabled. Build defenses that can stand multiple attacks.
Flank hits from any angle other than the front deal double damage. This works in your favor and against you.
Players start out with 14 max HP, and must eat different large food items to gain more max HP. It is possible, in many ways, to boost player max HP past the vanilla cap of 20.
Boss-level entities, mounts, and pets take incrementally less damage from consecutive attacks of the same damage type. This includes while pets and mounts are untamed.
Boss-level entities regain 80% of their lost health whenever a player dies near them. It's best to approach big fights prepared or not at all.
All cave systems are flooded with water at height 16 and below. Hold your breath or bring diving equipment.

Client Performance Stats [4GB RAM ALLOCATED]:

Boot Time: ~100 seconds.
Resting MSPT: 1-4ms SP.
Active Chunk Generation MSPT: 8-15ms SP & MP.

Modpack Content Stats:

Mods Loaded: 138 mods.
New Dimensions: ~6. Not including custom player-made Mystcraft dimensions.
Full Paths of Power (aka Tech Trees): ~10.
Full Completion Time: ~500hrs. Probably more tbh.
Number of players screaming "WTF IS THAT??" per hour: ~3. Depending on circumstances.
Vibes: Immaculate.

❔Q/A❔

"Why is my health starting so low?"

Your max health can increase in a number of ways in HC2, but one of the ways is eating new foods. You need to eat at least 3 new large foods when starting out to get back to the baseline 20HP (10 Hearts). If you are in the Betweenlands, you might have to restore your corruption level via "Ball of Sap", "Weeping Blue Petal", or similar means. If all that doesn't apply, you were probably dimension hopping and got the health bug, which requires a simple disconnect/reconnect to fix.

"Why is everything hitting so hard, including me?"

You're probably getting backstabbed & backstabbing targets. Backstabs deal double damage. This is both to your advantage, and disadvantage. The purpose of this is to increase battle's lethality and add more combat options when engaging enemies, and allow low-to-mid grade weapons and equipment to be effective in a wider set of scenarios.

"I died in the void, how do I get my stuff back?"

Your Totem, with all of your items, will be floating on the void just above the spot you died, waiting for you to retrieve it.

"How do I setup multiplayer so I can play with my friends?"

Use a program like Radmin VPN. Once you and your mates are connected in a VPN channel, then boot your desired singleplayer world, press [Esc] and click "Open to LAN", and have them connect to you via your VPN IP and port you set up when you opened the world. They'd connect to "(Your Radmin IP):(Port)", like this: "11.22.333.444:25565". More likely than not, they'd see your hosted server on their multiplayer server list automatically, since Minecraft will be fooled to think all of you are on the same network, because of the common VPN channel.

🐛 Known Bugs & Fixes 🐛

Modpack Not Booting - Sometimes happens. Launch modpack again until it works. Fix is on the way.

Visually Missing Chunks - Hit [F3]+[A] while in-game.

Gameplay Freezing - Allocate more RAM to Minecraft. Remember to use our recommended JVM Args.

Thaumcraft Perma-Fog - Fully restart your game.

Bandits Do Not Aggro Players - Delete the "customnpcs" folder inside the world's save folder, and load the world.

Crazy Bandit Spawns on Initial World Spawn - Dying once fixes their spawns.

Wall-Jump Wall Glitching - Only happens once every while. Stops after next attempt. Fix in progress.

Parasite Evolution Phase Not Dropping - The command /srpevolution toggle_evolutionloss has to be inputed ONCE per world due to SRParasite Bug. Automated fix is in the works.

Many thanks to my friends and their friends for playing the packs I've made over the years. We've all shared many good excuses to have fun together, and I wouldn't trade any of it for anything in the world. I don't own any of the mods inside this pack, all credits go to the inspiring people who made them. I just fine tuned their configs and wrote scripts and such so they all work well together. I also don't own any of the images or sounds found in the pack's resource pack, they were compiled/forked from other amazing resource packs, or from popular games such as Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. I may have made adjustments to said images or sounds, but I did not make them. Optifine Overworld night sky texture and darkness shader coloring was ported from the old SMP Revival Texture Pack. I am but one man, and I stand on the shoulders of giants to get a better view of the stars. I only take credit for my thousands of hours spent optimizing, refining, cleaning, scripting, and envisioning the experience I wish others to share with me.
