What's new

A big update: a new title menu and faster starts, Hexerei witchcraft with brooms, fixes for recipes that clashed between mods, and many items that two mods both add now work in each other's recipes and quests.

Sorry for the quick updates in the first days after release. From now on fixes are collected into fewer, bigger updates, so you won't have to update as often.

Safe for 1.0.0 and 1.0.1 worlds: nothing is removed or renamed, so single-player worlds and servers carry on as they are. New mods: Hexerei, FTB Filter System, and FancyMenu with Konkrete and Melody (client only).

A new title menu

  • The Hearth & Hex logo, restyled buttons in one column and "Hearth & Hex 1.1.0" in the corner.
  • Behind it, one of four illustrated scenes (spring, summer, autumn, winter), picked at random each time you start the game. The picture slides from side to side.
  • The Realms button and the splash text are gone; Mods, Options, Language and Accessibility are all still there.

Hexerei: witchcraft from the swamps

  • New mod with a new quest chapter after Hexalia (20 quests; the first one gives the Book of Shadows guidebook): a Mixing Cauldron, drying racks, herb brooms, an altar and crystal ball, crows, owls and an owl post, a witch outfit and three new woods.
  • It shares Hexalia's garden: Hexalia mandrake and nightshade work in Hexerei recipes, Hexerei's mortar recipes are made in Hexalia's Mortar and Pestle, and both herb jars hold both mods' herbs.
  • Hexerei brooms also need a Hexalia Celestial Crystal (glowstone, quartz and Hexalia's Celestial Ritual), so they come in mid-game.
  • In newly explored land, Hexerei's willow swamp, willow trees and swamp witch hut are off. Hexalia and Biomes O' Plenty willow logs and saplings turn into Hexerei ones in the Mixing Cauldron.
  • Woodcutter recipes that take more than one item are gone (they could crash the game); the crafting table makes those, including the Hexerei boats.

Same item, two mods

  • Quests accept the other mod's version. Almanac, Festivals, Kitchen and Pantry, The Mill, Ember and Anvil, Wild Wonders and Wizard's Year deliveries now take Doggy Talents rice grains as rice, Farm and Charm onions, tomato seeds, corn kernels and flour, the Neapolitan chocolate bar, Vinery mead, Tough As Nails and Farmer's Respite melon juice, and Eidolon lead ingots. Any knife counts for Knife and Board. These tasks show the item name with "(any kind)". Your quest progress is kept.
  • Doggy Talents rice works as rice in all 44 rice dishes, and it now also grows in autumn.
  • Swap 1 for 1 in the crafting grid: rice, onions, minced beef, bacon, corn kernels and chocolate bars between the two mods that add them, both ways. A Fruitful Fun pomegranate turns into a Collector's Reap pomegranate (one way only).
  • More recipes take either version: raw pasta, flour, dough, the Neapolitan milk bottle, strawberries, tomatoes, the Bakery and Vampire's Delight knives, Embers ash and Vinery cherries.
  • Drinks: Farmer's Spell pumpkin juice and Rustic Delight coffee now quench thirst (the coffee also warms you). Same-name drinks and the two cooking pots say in their tooltip which is which.
  • One silver ingot: smelting any silver ore, raw silver or silver dust now always gives the same silver ingot, so it stacks. Silver ingots you already have keep working everywhere, and the Eidolon bonelord armour and the Ars Ocultas silver imbuement take any silver ingot.

One result per recipe

  • Where two mods' recipes clashed in the crafting grid, the furnace or on the cutting board, there is now one result. The recipes you know work again: 3 wool in a row makes a sleeping bag in every colour, dirt between slabs makes flower boxes (Spring Sowing Fair), a book and a sapling make the Lexica Botania, copper around redstone makes the Tough As Nails thermometer.
  • The other item of each pair has a new recipe; EMI shows it. Items you already have are unchanged.
  • One silver and one lead: packing and smelting always gives Occultism silver and Embers lead. Old silver and lead still work everywhere.
  • The Ocean's Delight fugu roll can now be made: a pufferfish slice turns into a fugu slice.

Faster start

  • Every start is faster (about 25 seconds in our tests) and uses less memory: models load when first needed (ModernFix dynamic resources). If you changed config/modernfix-mixins.properties yourself, add your lines again.
  • New installs: the first start no longer loads all resources twice.

Fixes

  • Villagers converted by Vampirism showed as purple squares on the minimap; they now get the same small head as other villagers.
  • New installs only: JEI no longer adds its own tag pages (EMI already shows tags).
  • No more magenta pies, quiches, crops, kettles and trays from Farmer's Delight add-ons, and no magenta birch storage shelf.
  • Medieval Paintings show their real names again.
  • Frostling familiars respect their freeze rules again.
  • Forbidden Arcanus edelwood and aurum chest boats can be crafted again.
  • Epic Witch Huts generate with their foundation (newly explored land only).
  • Servers: vampire players get the same Tough As Nails help as in single player.
  • Items without a picture are hidden in EMI.
