Sky themed Botania / Soulus modpack (WIP)

As my son bothered me since a while to play a sky modpack (again) but i was a bit bored by the typical exNihilo start in Sky themed modpacks we started this little project.

It's basically a Botania (Garden of Glass) modpack enhanced by Soulus (crafted spawners and other summoning) but with a lot of tweaks (and other mods interacting).

 

Please note that this modpack is currently in development and atm just an early alpha version ! (but it's fully playable, just not content complete)

 

There will be mods added (others may be removed) and everything can change with a new version. But, i will do my best to avoid that you need to start over with a new version. In some cases it may and will be necessary / recommended to delete single dimensions (like Nether, End, Twilight Forest) from the savegame so better avoid building a lot of things there for now.

 

It's highly recommended that you know vanilla minecraft, Botania and proper usage of JEI (and google) very well. There will be no quests guiding you on how to do something or what to do next.

 

NEW GAME:

- If you want to play in a void world: select "Garden of glass" as worldtype

- Alternatively you can start in an acid ocean world: select "void?world" as worldtype (default)

  => acid ocean is recommended to not have typical void-lag issues

 

 

Overview / Features:

- you start almost the classical "Garden of Glass" way to get things (except that you can use Bonsai pots early on to grow trees)

- NO exNihilo or anything like that. Pure magic progression with tech available after you reached a certain progression later.

- Two different starting worlds available: Acid ocean and classical void world

- no natural mobs spawning in the starting dimension

- instead an early mob farm (like in Garden of Glass normally) you will need to spawn mobs with the Soulus mod combined with Botanias mana crafting.

- Balanced/Serverfriendly chunkloading for automation with Soul Totems that need to be refilled by hand (with upgrades running max ~6 hours)

- Mekanism, Galacticraft, XNet, Storage Drawers, Refined Storage, Tinkers Construct to just name a few popular mods currently in the pack.

- lots of custom recipes to maintain progression and make some things a "little bit" harder, for example Mekanism ore processing requires you to visit other planets to unlock higher tier ore doubling.

- Some additional dimensions (Twilight Forest atm, more to come...)

- Toxic rain !

- my goal is to keep it more a light/medium weight modpack with focus on stability and server friendly additions that does not require a high end computer to play. (Currently needs ~2.5G RAM to startup and ~1.5G while playing)
