You will have machinery from the beginning that will be useful to you to become strong in that world, much food and different armor for your adventure. Find a nice place, create your settlement and explore everything you can; the technology it's in your side.
The world offers you multiple different objects, and different locations. So do not always stay in your settlement, and do not be afraid of the Dragons, muhahahaha.
