Escape is a vanilla+ adventure pack for Minecraft 1.21.1 (NeoForge). The Overworld is only the start: extra dimensions, magic, and Create factories sit on top of a familiar survival loop, with a quest book that actually explains how to play.
Dimensions
Leave the Overworld through several portals, each with its own gear, bosses, and biomes:
- Twilight Forest: a 2×2 water pool, flowers, and a diamond. Lightning opens the portal. Progression is boss-gated (Naga, Lich, Minoshroom, Knight Phantoms, Hydra, Ur-Ghast, Alpha Yeti, Snow Queen). Some biomes stay locked until you follow that line.
- The Aether: a glowstone frame filled with water. Floating islands, dungeons, gravitite, and the Valkyrie Queen / Slider / Sun Spirit.
- Deeper Darker (the Otherside): kill a Warden for a Heart of the Deep, then light the Ancient City portal. Dark biomes, new ores, and late-game sculk gear.
- Nether and End: still part of the route, with a tougher Ender Dragon (Savage Ender Dragon).
Dimension items stay hidden in JEI until you actually enter. No spoiling the Aether or Twilight loot from spawn.
Magic and machines
Ars Nouveau is the magic line: glyphs at the Scribe’s Table, the Worn Notebook as the in-game wiki, and Create compatibility for mixed factories.
Create is the automation line: shafts, mixers, presses, brass, then steam. Mechanical Crafters unlock after you make brass. Addons include Create: Ultimate Factory and Create: Structures Arise.
Late-game goal: the Angel Ring (creative flight). Craft a Diamond Ring, then finish it on a Create sequenced assembly with a Precision Mechanism, Source Gem Block, Lamp of Cinders, Nether Star, and Sculk Catalyst. You have to touch Ars, late Twilight Forest, the Wither, and the Warden.
Quest book
FTB Quests is the guide, not a checklist dump. Progression is flexible. Chapters cover:
Beginning: first tools, a documentation quest (JEI, Ponder, Worn Notebook)
Mods: Create, Ars Nouveau, Sophisticated Backpacks & Storage, QoL gadgets
Completion: each dimension, Overworld biomes, and a bestiary
Pin quests, follow the chapter you care about, or treat the book as a completion log.
World and exploration
- Tectonic reshapes mountains and oceans (vanilla biome IDs stay, so Nature’s Compass still works)
YUNG’s Better Caves, Cave Biomes, Dungeons, Mineshafts, Desert Temples, Strongholds, and Nether Fortresses - When Dungeons Arise for extra structures
- Nature’s Compass, Xaero’s Minimap and World Map
- Waystones for fast travel (wild waystones generate in Overworld, Nether, and End)
- Lootr so every player gets their own dungeon chests in co-op
Quality of life
Sophisticated Backpacks and Storage, Supplementaries, Chipped / Rechiseled for building, JEI + Jade, Sodium, Corpse, and the usual inventory / lighting tweaks. The pack stays readable: you are not buried under a kitchen-sink tech tree.
