# Epic Forge Adventure — Beta Quest Progression Update
This update focuses on making the existing quest book more consistent and easier to follow. **All 293 quests across 40 chapters were reviewed.** No quests were added or removed in this revision.
## Quest Progression
- Corrected dependencies for **129 quests**.
- Connected missing steps in technology, magic, and dimensional progression.
- Corrected the Immersive Engineering sequence so the Coke Oven comes before treated wood.
- Separated independent branches, including Powah from Thermal and Recruits from MineColonies.
- Removed unrelated prerequisites from several combat, equipment, and exploration objectives.
- Corrected alternative-path requirements so players can choose a supported route without completing every option.
- Updated the dimensional atlas completion milestone to require all **nine listed destinations**.
## Descriptions and Objectives
- Updated text, objectives, icons, or rewards for **87 quests**. Some of these quests also received dependency changes.
- Clarified the difference between collecting a component, assembling a machine, operating a system, and defeating a boss.
- Corrected misleading descriptions involving materials, recipes, equipment effects, and progression requirements.
- Renamed objectives that previously promised more than their tasks checked, including specific equipment pieces, crafting materials, and collection milestones.
- Explained intermediate mod progression steps where the quest book does not have a separate quest.
- Removed outdated subtitles from renamed objectives.
## Rewards
- Replaced the Mechanical Mixer’s brass reward with copper to avoid skipping ahead of the heating and brass-production lessons.
- Replaced the introductory Industrial Foregoing plastic reward with iron to preserve the purpose of the plastic-production step.
- Replaced the supply chest reward after the MineColonies Town Hall milestone with food for the developing settlement.
## Quest Book Layout
- Reorganized quest positions across all **40 chapters** to follow the corrected local progression.
- Spaced parallel branches so players can read the available paths more easily.
- Kept boss contracts independent of an imposed quest order.
## Save Compatibility and Validation
- Preserved all existing **quest, task, reward, and chapter IDs**.
- Did not modify world progress data, installed mods, recipes, EMC values, or survival settings.
- Created a backup before applying the revision.
- Checked for duplicate IDs, missing dependency references, dependency cycles, invalid dependency counts, and overlapping quest positions.
- Checked item references against installed mod assets, including embedded JARs.
- Verified that the installed chapter files match the prepared revision.
**Testing note:** These checks validate the files and quest structure. They do not replace an in-game playthrough or multiplayer testing.
## Updating
Restart Minecraft after updating to load the revised quest book. Keep a backup of your instance and world before updating. Existing IDs were retained to support continuity, but newly corrected requirements may change what unfinished quests ask you to complete.
