Else

Else is a Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge modpack designed to expand the vanilla survival experience with exploration, technology, automation, building, storage, farming, cooking, and multiplayer features.

The modpack gives players more things to discover and more ways to progress beyond the standard Minecraft experience. You can explore dangerous underground environments, build automated technology systems, create large bases more efficiently, manage large amounts of resources, and play together with friends using proximity voice chat.

🌎 Exploration

Alex's Caves significantly expands Minecraft's underground world by adding several unique cave environments. These caves have their own blocks, resources, mobs, structures, and challenges.

Instead of exploring only vanilla caves, players have additional environments to discover and reasons to travel underground. Exploration can lead to new resources and encounters that are not available in normal Minecraft.

⚙️ Technology and Automation

Mekanism adds a large technology progression system to the game. Players can build machines that process ores, generate and use energy, automate resources, and create increasingly advanced technological setups.

This gives players a progression path beyond vanilla Minecraft and allows them to turn repetitive resource-processing tasks into automated systems.

Applied Energistics 2 adds a digital storage and crafting system. Players can connect storage devices into a network and access their items from a central interface.

Instead of maintaining many separate chests, players can organize large item collections digitally and automate crafting. This becomes especially useful as the player's base and resource collection grow.

Building Gadgets adds tools designed to make large construction projects faster and easier.

Players can use these tools to place large numbers of blocks, build structures more efficiently, and perform repetitive construction tasks without manually placing every block.

This makes it easier to create large bases and structures while still allowing players to design them however they want.

🎒 Storage and Exploration

Sophisticated Backpacks adds upgradeable backpacks with additional storage and functionality.

Players can take significantly more resources with them when mining, exploring caves, or travelling far from their base. Backpack upgrades also allow players to customize their storage depending on how they play.

🍳 Farming and Cooking

Farmer's Delight expands Minecraft's food and farming mechanics with new ingredients, cooking equipment, recipes, and meals.

Farming becomes more useful because players can grow additional ingredients and use them to prepare different foods. This gives survival players more options for obtaining and managing food.

🎙️ Multiplayer

Simple Voice Chat adds proximity voice communication to multiplayer.

Players can talk to people who are nearby in-game, making exploration, building, mining, and surviving together feel more natural. Players farther away cannot simply hear every conversation, which makes distance matter during multiplayer gameplay.

Just Enough Items (JEI) adds an in-game item and recipe viewer.
