Just like my previous modpack, this modpack has mods that I do not own for legal reasons. Please support the mod creators because without their mods Drown (and Paranoia Paradigm!) would have NEVER existed.
Welcome to the newest installment within the Paranoia Paradigm Universe:
Drown
This modpack will be under development for an unknown period of time.
Expect many bugs and similar as I navigate them and (hopefully) fix them.
The Great Tide
The Great Tide is a phenomenon occured not-so-long ago in the result of an unnatural being engulfing the planet with water.
And with a lot of water, comes a lot of buried secrets.
But to understand how this all happened, we must step back a little.
In 2180, A group known as the Foretellers united to achieve one goal.
How long does humanity have left before the arrival of an era that wipes it out?
Or worse, an entity?
After gathering some opinions from the neighboring cities, majority of their claims were centered around nature, which eased the Foreteller's thoughts.
Little did they know, an unknown group of scientists were already halfway through a project called Project: 85.
Project 85 was a study of a new technology to create literal dimensions. It was a very ambitious project.
The result? After years and years of studying, they forged a portal to this new dimension to see for themselves.
They called it The New World. It was empty with only void, but a breakthrough like this was ecstatic to the scientists.
They just left out one tiny problem: How do they get back?
As they were standing on this unknown stone floating above the void, they pondered for a very long time.
They just created a whole new dimension! How could they not just return? They built a portal, had years upon years of time to plan up to his moment!
But none thought of how to return home.
Days passed in this new dimension. Weeks, months, years, decades.
Each day their body was rotting uncontrollably. Each piece of flesh undistinguishable from the rest.
They were still alive, rotting every moment.
The torment of the sound of silence and the bleakness of the void drove them insane to each other.
Fighting, screaming, begging for mercy, and even just pondering about falling into the void itself.
One day, a scientist has had enough with her torn body and crawled to the edge of the floating island.
As she fell, a dark cloud washed upon her body and it was filled with frustration.
All of that pent up anger, sadness, and hopelessness transformed into a tangible form.
And thus was the first god of the New World.
Her name was Jean.
As Jean rose from the void and looked down upon her colleages, she was beyond furious that they caused this sole incident to ruin her human body.
She cursed each scientist as they vanished into thin air, sending them back where they came from.
The Overworld.
The scientists, over time, regained strength over their body without the void poisoning them.
Miraculously, their rotting and decomposing seemed to cease.
After a handful of days trying to forget the amount of time spent in the New World, one of the scientists found something off.
A smile in the distance.
It was an odd smile, because it was glowing.
Curiosity struck as he approached the looming smile.
The closer he got to the smile, the more his brain seemed to numb and lose control.
He vanished along with the smile.
One of the scientists just happened to glance at the near-vanished colleage as he watched him then fade away into nothing.
A panic rushed through him as he locked himself inside his lab, making sure to check every single corner and crevice for nothing to seep in.
To try and distance himself for that he just saw, he turned on the TV to distract him.
Sure enough, the news ran rampant about mysterious black entities appearing, taking people, and vanishing.
Nothing could escape them.
Days passed inside the lab as he sat there, crying to himself on what is happening all around him.
Then a thought hit him.
What if this black entity wasn't a coincidence?
What if it was sent here?
What if..
Just what if...
It was the doing of Jean herself?
After all, these creatures weren't like endermen, but they looked very similar in size and color.
He didn't know what to do.
How could he defend against an otherwordly being?
He was at a loss for words as his heart thumped louder and louder.
As he finally gathered enough courage to walk outside in the horrid world around him
it was just silence.
Nothing except the crunching of grass and the heavy breathing.
Hours went by without a trace of human life. He became more Paranoid than ever.
Everywhere he looked, he was fearing more of not what is there, but what could be there.
Days passed with no interaction. He adjusted to the silence around him. As more days come across, more entities come into perspective (in comparison to only one smiling entity from day 1)
Some of them stare, others engage with you, some look like friends from afar, and one, in particular, whistles.
And then it hits you.
You have played this game before.
This isn't just some random coincidence
You realize that the person in this story is now you
This incident is what caused the Paranoia Paradigm to occur in the first place.
Although I kind of abandoned the project because there was too many crashes
This is your new chapter in the Pranoia Paradigm universe.
So what did happen?
Over time, you noticed that less and less entities showed up around you.
After some time, silence was your only partner.
The silence took its toll over you. Nothing except the ground crunching beneath you.
You felt relieved. Maybe you survived the horrific era.
Little did you know, they were not dissapearing. They were doing something far more confusing.
They were retreating. They retreated to a new dimension due to a phenomenon that Jean cursed upon the overworld.
She called it, The Great Tide.
Day by day, you notice the water levels rise gradually. Confused, you decided to run some studies to determine how fast.
It was five feet a week.
In a panic, you rushed to grab all of your equipment, but it was too late. In a brief flash, you see a dark void open up far ahead of the ocean. This void poured what seemed millions of gallons of water into the ocean ahead of you. And it wouldn't stop.
The water rose so fast that the remaining entities that tried to escape failed. The entities that were plaguing the world tried to escape the wrath of the water
But they failed.
Panic rushed into your head as the water kept rising and rising. You eventually are knocked unconcious by a rushing piece of wood.
You wake up after a handful of hours surrounded by the deep blue ocean
And when I mean deep, I mean DEEP.
Looking down almost becomes pitch black.
As you swim to the nearest floating object is sight, you hear a sound.
But not just any sound like a whistle or a scream
You hear the roar of the ocean below you.
You freeze up, as you have dealt with something like this before, but now there is no terrain to your advantage.
At first, they were on your home turf.
Now? You are on their home field.
And they have the advantage.
You are not alone. And this time, they aren't hunting you to make you paranoid.
They are hunting you because they are hungry.
And as if you thought it couldn't get any worse:
Not only will you be fighting the unforgiving ocean, but Jean now has her eyes locked upon you.
And she isn't happy.
Welcome to the aftermath of the Great Tide, friend.
I sure hope you don't have thalassophobia.
Even if you don't, you may very well be wrong.
Oh, and a pro tip:
Don't Drown
