Story

"An easy mission", they said. There is no such thing as an easy mission, you've been warned ever since you joined starfleet. Your order was to explore a recently discovered system containing countless worlds. Lots of Ores, they said. Energy signatures whose sources would be very valuable. They forgot to tell you about the dangers these energies could cause. As you reached this impressive system you started to count the planets. Somewhere above 20 you realised the trouble. Technicans became nervous, started to agitate. Most systems stopped working at the same time. An explosion, alert, more explosions, evacuation order. Only minutes after your arrival the first escape capsules started. At least you'd say so. Someone managed to send an emergency call, your own capsules comm told you shortly before it stopped working. Your last thought before you hit the atmosphere of one of the plantes: This is the end.
It wasn't. You woke up alone. You managed to find some equipment, food, even water. Your mission was to explore this system, now you'll have a lot of time to do so. Maybe others did survive the crash too? Thanks to replicator technology you have no idea what to do next. Maybe these guides you found will help you staying alive...

Description

Dimensional Nightmare throws the player into a hostile enviroment. Even high-pitched walls can cause your death. You can develop technology or mobilize magic forces to find your way surviving this seemingly endless days and nights while exploring more than 20 different, more or less dangerous dimensions.

Physics! Buildings breaking apart, collapsing burial chambers, randomly happening avalanches. Maybe the Block you're about to place is the one that let's the cave below you collapse. Never dig straight up or down, never build too big rooms, and don't even think about building with cobblestone!

Air quality is a thing now. Deep down in those caves, far away from oxygen providing plants, a respirator will become a rescuer. And don't forget to bring some water with you, just in case you get thirsty...

Btw: Do you like the furnace? I don't, so I decided to remove it. There's no crafting recipe resulting in or making use of the furnace. The questbook will help you there.

Tip: Most of the quests won't even show up before you completed their requirements. Most are done by regular playing, some are done by completing other quests.

to Beginers: You should really use the Questbook. Some core mechanics aren't accessible without it!

How to Install

Since 0.1.7:

Search Dimensional Nightmare in your Curse Client

Pre 0.1.7

  1. Download Files from Project Page
  2. In your curse client, create a custom profile
  3. click on "import" at the top of the form
  4. in the new window select the file you got from here, confirm by clicking "open"
  5. wait; curse does everything else for you, after it's done you can click play. Have fun!

If you're generating a new world, remember to set worldtype to new dawn. Worlds generated by the vanilla generator are way more dangerous because of the physics I added into this pack.

If you want to continue a savegame from an older version, just copy your save folder into the new instance. Prepare to lose your ores due to ID changes...
