There is an mmo aspect where you cant just craft pickaxes and swords, no.. you have to gain experience with lower tiers to unlock better weapons and tools. You can go on an endless adventure, discover dungeons, bosses, different food items for cooking and farming.
You can make factories, automate machines and make a foundry for smelting down ores and crafting special tool, weapons and armour.
