Data Center in the Sky 1.6.0
What's new
Data Center in the Sky 1.6.0
The Data Center mod moves from 1.7.4 to 1.10.2, and two mods join the pack: SkyWorlds and Money. Every other mod stays exactly where 1.4.3 left it.
Read this before you update
Existing island worlds start over. The islands used to be part of the Data Center mod. They are their own mod now, SkyWorlds, and it does not read what the old version stored: your island, its zones and the season are not carried across. What you built is still standing in the world, but the world no longer knows it as your island. If you want to keep playing your current world, stay on 1.4.3. For a fresh start, 1.6.0 is the version to take.
Money is one-way. The first time a world loads with Money installed, every wallet's dollars move into that player's Money account - once. Taking Money back out afterwards would leave them behind.
Server and players update together. This version adds blocks and items.
Islands are SkyWorlds now
Islands, zones, /island, the world type, the spawn campus, the seasons and the champions' museum
work as before - same commands, same words - they just live in SkyWorlds. The pack preselects the
SkyWorlds world type when you create a world, and your starter kit still arrives with your island.
Dollars you can hold
With Money the pack's dollars become an account and cash: notes and coins as items, a purse, the ATM
to pay in and take out, and /money to see your balance or pay another player. Hosting rent, the
Shop and coin sales all move that same money.
What is new in Data Center since 1.7.4
- The technician no longer walks. He stands at his workstation and services every machine of its room from there, and he only looks after machines of his employer or their team.
- A full rack no longer cooks itself, and racks and ASIC miners that touch share one feed.
- New worlds can start before Bitcoin. With the new setting
calendar.startDateForNewWorldsa world can begin as early as 1999 and run a hosting business through the dotcom years. The pack keeps the usual start of 2008-12-31. - Screens tidied up in English and German: no more text running over buttons, slots or panels.
- Many fixes in between - the full list is in the changelog of the Data Center mod.
Removed
The pack no longer adds the old public server to your server list; that server is closed.
