Data Center in the Sky 1.4.2
What's new
Data Center in the Sky 1.4.2
The Data Center mod moves from 1.7.1 to 1.7.3. The mod list is otherwise unchanged. An existing world updates in place.
A spawn that teaches, and seasons
The server spawn is rebuilt around the question new players kept asking: what do I do now?
- The Academy is a loop of eight stands - first dollars, the Shop, building a server, the bays, power, mining, hosting, compute - each with a working demo and a board that explains it in full sentences. Yellow arrows lead there from the spawn point.
- Seasons. The spawn shows the season and how long until it ends: the day the in-world calendar
runs out of real history. The best team and the best solo player of a season are kept, and their
islands can be visited - look, don't touch - in the next one.
/seasonshows where things stand. - Discord is on a board at the spawn, as a link when you log in, and behind
/discord.
Hold W to understand a block
With Create in the pack, every block the handbook explains now has a Ponder scene: hold W over a Rack, a Mining Rig, the Log Buyer, the Workbench, a cable, a Simulation Node, an ASIC and some thirty more, and a short animated build shows what it does and how to set it up.
Machines you can tell apart
Rack, Mining Rig and Hosting Rack were the same picture with a thin stripe of colour. They now wear their job on every side: blue for computing, orange for mining, green for hosting, with a chip, a coin or a cloud on the roof.
Fixes
- Server parts could be duplicated at the Workbench by putting two cases on it at once. Closed.
- Technicians trained to sell or refurbish never did. They do now, and they say why when they cannot.
- The Mining Simulator gives out diamonds you will actually see - about as often as emeralds.
- Racks, Mining Rigs and Hosting Racks share spare power with each other on every side, not only downwards.
- The FPGA and ASIC screen no longer draws text over itself.
- The Data Center Handbook can be crafted again - a book and a Y(ST)Y cable.
The full list is in the mod's changelog on its CurseForge page.
