What's new

Createch 2 0.8.2a Changelog

Changes since 0.8.1b

0.8.2a is primarily an integration, progression, and player-experience update. The goal was not to make Createch 2 wider for the sake of being wider—it was to make the enormous amount of content already here feel like one intentional game.

Questbook & Onboarding

The questbook received its largest refinement pass since the 0.8 rewrite.

  • Reworked progression across the full route from the Stone Age to Infinity.

  • Cleaned up quest dependencies and disconnected progression branches.

  • Reduced unintended quest roots from 26 to 10 while preserving intentional recovery/optional branches.

  • Removed all unintended role_required quest roots.

  • Removed duplicate quest titles.

  • Rewrote repeated/template-like quest descriptions into shorter, contextual instructions.

  • Improved explanations of what machines, components, and milestones actually accomplish.

  • Improved early-game onboarding and the transition from survival into industry.

  • Clarified the main progression through:

    • TFC survival

    • copper metallurgy

    • research

    • water power

    • steam

    • heavy industry

    • Low Voltage

    • first spaceflight

    • advanced electricity

    • chemistry

    • digital logistics

    • titanium

    • deep-space industry

    • nuclear engineering

    • Starlight

    • quantum technology

    • Infinity

  • Preserved independent recovery procedures instead of artificially forcing everything onto the main quest line.

The current book contains 1,223 quests with a fully valid dependency graph.

Research & Progression

Research'd received another major integration pass.

  • Explicitly enforced rail-before-flight progression.

  • Lighter-than-air aviation now follows Railway Engineering.

  • Expanded research integration for new electrical, mobility, underwater, coaster, and control systems.

  • Integrated powered airframe components into the existing aviation research path.

  • Integrated compact transmissions into mechanical progression.

  • Integrated engineered coaster technology into railway/electrical progression.

  • Integrated Synaxis telemetry and actuation into Networked Control.

  • Integrated new electrical components into the existing Power Grid research hierarchy.

  • Preserved the existing 105-node research tree without introducing new missing parents or cycles.

New mods are treated as extensions of Createch 2's existing technologies rather than standalone progression shortcuts.

Electrical Engineering

Electrical infrastructure received a substantial expansion.

Create: Electro Energetics is now integrated throughout the Power Grid progression instead of functioning as a competing electrical ecosystem.

Its components are distributed through the appropriate electrical research stages, including:

  • wiring and connectors

  • electrical panels

  • switches and controls

  • motors

  • measurement equipment

  • rail electrification equipment

  • transformers

  • high-voltage infrastructure

  • protection equipment

Additional tooltips now clarify the intended roles of overlapping electrical and mechanical components.

Power Grid remains the authority for Createch 2's electrical progression.

Deep-Sea Engineering

0.8.2a introduces a new integrated underwater engineering layer using the Create Deep Seas ecosystem.

Underwater technology now ties into existing progression instead of existing as isolated mod content.

Steel-era engineering unlocks systems such as:

  • pressure hull components

  • pressurizers

  • ballast tanks

  • ballast vents

  • fathometers and hull instrumentation

  • submarine propulsion

  • underwater thrusters

  • steel cables

  • pulleys

Low Voltage progression later introduces powered atmosphere-support systems such as oxygen diffusion and electrolysis.

Native pressure, implosion, currents, air consumption, and other underwater hazards remain meaningful.

Industrial Consequences

Industrial infrastructure is becoming less forgiving.

Burnt and its integrations now add physical industrial hazards and environmental consequences while Createch 2 controls when the player gains the tools to mitigate them.

  • Integrated fire extinguishers into steel-era industry.

  • Integrated smoke detection into electrical progression.

  • Added controlled geothermal, sulphur, hot spring, and tar-pit world features to appropriate environments.

  • Preserved native fire/collapse behavior instead of replacing it with scripted imitation.

Rail, Coasters & Mobility

Rail engineering received several new extensions.

  • Added engineered and simulated coaster technology.

  • Integrated coaster components into Railway Engineering.

  • Electrical linear motors now require actual electrical infrastructure.

  • Added compact gearbox/transmission technology to later mechanical progression.

  • Expanded powered-airframe component integration.

  • Aviation now explicitly requires railway progression first.

Rail remains the first serious long-distance transportation infrastructure before powered flight.

Control Systems & Computing

Added and integrated Synaxis as a physical telemetry and actuation layer beyond basic CC:Tweaked control.

Later computing can now lead into:

  • controller wiring

  • control circuits

  • cameras

  • control chairs

  • dynamic motors

  • hydraulic actuators

  • kinetic control

  • physical machine telemetry

These systems unlock through the established Networked Control research rather than creating an independent technology tree.

Geology & World Integrity

The universe received another major authority pass.

  • Continued moving planetary geology under Createch 2/TFC authority.

  • Reorganized geology tags into clearer semantic namespaces.

  • Updated planetary replaceable-block definitions across:

    • Terra-related environments

    • Nether

    • End

    • Moon

    • Mars

    • Mercury

    • Venus

    • Abydos

    • Athos

    • Chulak

    • Lantea

    • Tollan

    • Unitas

    • Rima

    • Cavum

    • Starlight

    • Cosmonautics destinations

  • Refined numerous planetary TFC-style ore deposits.

  • Continued preventing native mod geology from bypassing Createch 2's resource progression.

  • Disabled Better Mineshafts' vanilla-style ore deposits so structures no longer inject alternate coal/iron/gold/redstone/diamond/etc. mining routes.

TFC/Createch geology remains the authority for mineable natural resources.

Exploration & Loot

Offworld exploration was tightened to protect progression.

  • Revised Moon expedition salvage.

  • Revised Mars expedition salvage.

  • Revised Mercury expedition salvage.

  • Revised Venus expedition salvage.

  • Protected progression-critical planetary resources from appearing as arbitrary structure loot.

  • Continued separating exploration rewards from progression bypasses.

Exploration should reward the player without replacing the industrial chain required to produce advanced materials.

Tags & Internal Readability

A large KubeJS tag cleanup was completed.

Many generic or difficult-to-interpret tags were moved into clearer semantic namespaces covering areas such as:

  • planetary geology replaceables

  • forestry/logging

  • machine structure components

  • rock materials

  • worldgen biome groups

This does not exist purely for code aesthetics: clearer tags make recipe inspection, compatibility work, maintenance, and future automated verification significantly easier.

Localization

Quest and guide localization received another full synchronization pass.

Supported languages remain:

  • English

  • German

  • Spanish

  • French

  • Brazilian Portuguese

  • Russian

  • Simplified Chinese

All seven quest locales now contain the same 3,709 localization keys.

Guide content and Createch-specific UI language were updated alongside the quest changes.

Mod Changes

Since the last publicly available repository version, 0.8.1b:

  • 17 mods added

  • 0 mods removed

  • 32 existing manifest entries updated

Most additions support systems that have now been directly integrated into progression, including deep-sea engineering, electrical infrastructure, industrial hazards, advanced control systems, transmissions, rail/coaster engineering, and powered-airframe technology.

This is not intended to create seventeen new disconnected mod progression trees. Their useful content has been folded into Createch 2's existing industrial hierarchy.

General Cleanup

  • Improved JEI/component-role clarity.

  • Improved component hierarchy communication.

  • Updated FancyMenu configuration.

  • Updated guide content.

  • Updated numerous compatibility configurations.

  • Cleaned stale worldgen/tag identifiers.

  • Improved TFC logging/forestry compatibility.

  • Improved structure and worldgen authority.

  • Continued removing paths where duplicate systems could appear interchangeable or accidentally provide an easier route.

What 0.8.2a Is About

0.8.1b proved that the overall Createch 2 progression worked.

0.8.2a is about making that progression feel intentional.

The questbook is clearer, Research'd better represents the actual technology tree, rail-before-flight is explicit, electricity has a clearer authority, new engineering systems have real places in progression, planetary resources are better protected, and more of the universe follows the same rules from the Stone Age all the way to Infinity.

Optimize for memory, not efficiency.
