Use the create mods to develop fully autonomous sand farmers using cobblestone generators and Mechanical drills. Making glass and concrete gathering so much easier!
Even use all of the mods together to make fully automatic farms using the Create mod and Harvestcraft to make highly efficient auto farms with no real redstone or villagers required :)
