What's new
2.5.0.r
This update contains some semi-breaking changes. The update reworks biome distribution, as such there will be some areas between existing terrain and new worldgen where the biomes switch abruptly. The hex grid will remain intact so it won't look TOO bad, but there will be some jank.
We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause, but the benefits of the new system should make themselves apparent quickly. You do NOT need to start a new world.
Warning: An issue has been found where picking up jeb_ sheep with carryon causes rapid flashing of the colors. As such, jeb_ sheep have been removed from natural spawns. Do NOT pick up existing jeb_ sheep.
- The biome selector for each hex has been completely overhauled. @Barza
- A word of warning: You will need to explore outwards to see the new system in action. You might also encounter some harshly mixed hexes at the divide between old terrain and new terrain. Sorry!
- Hexes are no longer grouped up into regions and are instead divided up into three pools. Land, Coastal and Ocean.
- Each pool pulls from a weighted list at random, meaning that biomes will be evenly distributed. New nether, and and void hexes will no longer be clumped together.
- The system respects world seeds, the same seed will have the same biomes at the same hexes.
- The list of available biomes has been greatly expanded. You will see some biomes that weren't generating before, and even some brand new ones!
- The new distribution allows certain hex types, like void hexes, to be more common.
- Some brand new biomes have been designed.
- Three new end biomes themed around the content of Echovoids (@Micomi):
- Pearlescent Cliffs: A pearly white mold has taken over here. This mold favours the growth of certain plants in the chorus family and can glow under the right circumstances.
- Entropic Delta: This land is infested with ender mold...it is looking at me. While you leave, watch your step, as the entropic sludge scattered can be really difficult to get out of.
- Blonde Grove: The area is named from the sulfury yellow nylium covering it. Some luciferase using flora is also found here, recognizable by a distinct bright green glow.
- Sculklands (@Barza): A land completely infested with sculk. You may go in to retrieve the valuable catalysts...but watch out!
- Glimmering Weald (@Barza): Based on the one from Quark, this land is full of assorted glowing fungi and lichens.
- Mystical Grove (@Barza): An absolute treasure trove for the aspiring botanist. The land is infused with mana, turning the grass blue and causing mystical plants to sprout up everywhere. Some have even grown to be several blocks tall! All these flowers have attracted a large population of bees.
- Impact Site (@Barza): This only shows up at the spawn crater and serves to add ambiance...and some failsafes against stuff spawning where it really shouldn't.
- It will only generate in new worlds. For existing worlds, a function has been provided to fill it in. To run it, use the command "/function compression:fill_impact_site_biome"
- Many existing biomes have been tweaked, some new colors, some material veins, some appropriate mob spawns @Micomi
- New recipe chain for IE's Graphite Electrodes, making the Arc Furnace usable @Nyagi
- Several items and blocks in the newly added Echovoids were integrated into the current recipe chains @Nyagi
- Note: said items are not required for current progression in order to avoid forcing far exploration.
- The pure metal items now have a chemlib-style abbreviation, making them easier to tell apart. @Barza
- The abbreviation is only visible in inventories
- Float-separated dusts are marked with a *, to tell them apart from the pure dusts and indicate that they are not quite pure yet.
- The music loading system was replaced @Barza/Doobly
- Should lead to most if not all stuttering being gone
- Added two new music tracks, made by Doobly
- Added [Proton Decay], a new track to the night playlist.
- Added [START], a new track that only plays in the Impact Site biome.
- Some items are now fire resistant @Micomi
- The list includes some common nether blocks, insulating firebricks, endoflames (+floating and mush) and thermalilies (+floating and mush)
