Welcome to Magic & Co., a modpack that primarily focuses on magic but also adventure, with a crucial component that I personally missed for a very long time: companions. There are plenty of allies who will assist you in taking down bosses and mobs, including the most challenging ones, and there is still more to find.
Regarding magic, we have Ars Nouveau, Iron's Spell and Spellbook, and numerous add-ons (Magic from the East, Alshanex's Familiars, Cataclysm Spellbook, Discerning the Eldritch, etc.).
In terms of bosses and adventure, we have:
Dungeons and Taverns, The Twilight Forest, Qliphoth Awakening, Mowzie's Mobs, Luki's Mod, Bosses of Mass Destruction, Bosses' Rise, and more are examples of bosses and adventure.
And for companions: Alshanex's Familiars, Touhou Little Maid, Adorable Hamster Pets, Companions! (of course), and more.
