Cobble City RPG 0.1.6
What's new
- Gyms are much easier to find. They used to be tied to a few rare biomes each (Brock's gym only stood in windswept hills and stony peaks, Cinnabar's only in Nether biomes, so some never generated), which put them thousands of blocks apart. Every gym and League can now stand in any land biome of its world, and they come up more often. Villages and Pokémon towns are thinned out a little to make room.
- The regions now open one after another, in the order the games came out: Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Alola, Galar, Paldea, then the post-game. Beat a region's Elite Four to unlock the next region's Hub portal; walking into a locked region sends you back to the Hub. Champions are optional (and so are N, Ghetsis and Chairman Rose), so the Elite Four is all you need to move on. Black 2/White 2 is an optional part of Unova. New players start the Kanto series automatically. This replaces the earlier tier groups.
- Moving on is in the quest book. After a region's last Elite Four quest, a "Continue to ..." quest starts the next series when you click it, so you can fight the optional Champion first or move on right away. Black 2/White 2 has its own optional quest in the Unova chapter. After Paldea you choose Radical Red, Unbound or Pokémon Adventures.
- The Trainer Association NPC no longer spawns. The quest book starts and switches series (see the "Radical Cobblemon Trainers veterans" quest), and a note on the Trainer Card item explains why it can't be crafted. The CurseForge page has a section for Radical Cobblemon Trainers veterans.
- Find every gym from the quest book. Each region chapter has "Find <leader>'s gym" quests (and one for the Pokémon League) on the right. Click one while you're in that region's world and the game tells you where the nearest one is, in chat. They can be used again and again, and they unlock when you start the region. The Explorer's Compass and Nature's Compass still work.
- Optional new starters. The first time you arrive in Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Alola, Galar or Paldea, an optional quest in that region's chapter lets you pick one of its three starters (level 10), or skip it.
- New players choose from the Kanto starters only (Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle). Starters from the other regions are offered by the optional quest when you first arrive there.
- A proper quest-book introduction. The "Cobblemon TL;DR" quest is written, and eight new info quests beside it explain the Hub, regions in order, portals and keys, finding gyms, level caps, starters, optional trainers and the post-game. Every region chapter starts with a "Welcome to ..." quest that completes when you arrive. Later quests are visible but locked until you reach them.
- Fixed accented letters (the é in Pokémon) showing as garbage in some quest text.
- New players start with the quest book in their starter kit, so the quest line is the first thing they see.
- The "Professor Oak" quest also gives an Explorer's Compass alongside the Pokédex. It points to structures such as gyms and puts a waypoint on your JourneyMap automatically.
- The Trainer Card is gone for new players: it can no longer be crafted and the starter kit doesn't include it. A new quest-book flow is replacing it.
- Fixed wild Pokémon in the Hoenn, Kalos, Galar and Paldea worlds. Their regional Pokémon were never switched on, so those four worlds spawned nothing except a few special encounters. They now spawn their game's regional Pokédex.
- Fixed Pokémon appearing in the wrong world. Spawns added by Mega Showdown and ZA Megas (Blipbug, Dottler and Orbeetle, Burmy and Wormadam, Castform, Snover, Rotom, Oricorio, Minior, Floette and others) ignored the world rules, so Blipbug turned up in Kanto. They follow the same rules as everything else now. The Eevee-evolution moon and season events and the distortion ghosts are still special encounters in any world.
