Cherry Vanilla Cola

Compiled to extend the vanilla Minecraft experience with the added sweetness of modded Minecraft utilities and a touch of bubbley silliness.

Originally, my friends and I were playing on a vanilla server, but after some time, we had seen and done just about everything we could do short of ascending to the heavens on creative wings. After some persuasion, my friends agreed to try a modded server for a change of pace. My friends have always felt that modded Minecraft was more "what mods can do for you" rather than "what you can do with mods" and all the available packs failed to meet their rigorous standards or were not expansive enough, so I decided to make my own.

Key Features:

  • A ridiculous amount of decorative blocks and items. Chisel, Xtones, Decocraft2, and Chisels & Bits provide a staggering potential to make your world exactly how you envision it.
  • Delicious food! Pam's Harvestcraft and Cooking for Blockheads supply the world with a large variety of culinary treats and the means to cook them. The Spice of Life ensures you actually need to eat those foods. (Default configs modified to be less harsh, but still undesirable, to eat the same foods day in and day out)
  • A more diverse environment. Natura, Quark, and Ferdinand's Flowers spice up Minecraft's landscapes, both above and below ground.
  • Confetti
  • Bags within Bags! Two loot bag mods work in conjunction to create an alternate source of resources, including other players!
  • Modded content is provided via loot bags to help players newer to modded Minecraft discover mods more organically. (Learning how to use JEI properly would still be needed for those not familiar with every mod)
  • No Quest mods. While quests can create an amazing experience and are a great learning tool, some may consider this a form of hand-holding and may deprive some players the feeling of successfully teaching themselves something difficult.
  • No magic mods. No tech mods. No power systems.
  • Automation requires forethought and skill. Nothing facilitates automatic automation. (For example: no mob grinders, no crop harvesters, and no miners/quarries)

Conclusion:

This is my first attempt at trying to create a fully functional modpack and, for the most part, I am pleased with the result. The feel remains largely vanilla with just enough modded content for variety and convenience as to avoid overwhelming those newer to the modded experience. However, it is largely untested for balance issues (see: lootbag drop rates and item quantities) and I worry it may spoil an otherwise good time. It took me about 5 days to fully assemble and configure the pack, but its about time I should be playing it rather than fine tuning it. Either way, I hope you enjoy the pack too!
