The main mods of the pack (like mekanism, thermal, and industrialforegoing) allow you to obtain materials and through various machines transform them into other materials or into very powerful weapons or armor, with draconic evolution, or into rockets to explore other planets with galacticraft.
There are also 2 mods which make inventory management easier (simple storage and refined storage) and can autocraft some difficult crafting.
