You are expendable. Your puppet is expendable. The people who sent you here do not care about you, nor your avatar - only how far you're both able to make it. They do not expect you to survive; however, if you manage to, you'll have secured freedom for both you and [it].

With a foundation based upon the mod DOOMED | UNKNOWN CASUALTY by Matulives, Casualties: Expected (Cas:E) challenges you with (in mod-author Matu's own words) "a body that can actually fail."
With supporting mods Tectonic and Shattered World Limits revamping surface and cave generation and increasing the global y-minimum to -544, respectively, Cas:E forces you to confront the dark. Or die trying.
- Custom datapacks that stretch Minecraft's natural generation more than 5x deeper than it was ever meant to go, and allow structures and features to spawn even below the typical -64 y-limit (with the help of Structurify)
- Over 50 custom recipes that allow for both heightened integration between mods and QoL, as well as forcing you to interact with DOOMED's custom chemistry systems for certain progression beats (thanks to KubeJS)
- A disabled nether, limiting the scope of the modpack and allowing you to focus on just going down (via No Nether Portal)
- A world depth of y = -544 (kudos to Shattered World Limits)
- An entirely overhauled health, hunger, medicinal, and chemical system, forcing players to confront dislocations, fractures, and blood loss, as well as simulating both cardiac and respiratory systems for you to manage. Medicines can be synthesized from base ingredients using a plethora of custom machines, parodying real chemical processess that output products with purities dependent on machine cleanliness and reagent purity (of course, thanks to DOOMED)
- Complete shader / config / resource pack customization so that nothing pulls you out of the immersiveness of suffering a heart attack (shout out to the Immersive Interfaces resource pack collection)

Solo, this pack is intended to be played on Hardcore. You only have one body, and you only have one chance. Consider your wasted time a consequence of letting your avatar die. At least you're not the one in agony.
Misery does love company, though. With others, this pack is recommended to be played on Hard. Even the researchers at the Bureau aren't savages. Outside forms of communication, though, are highly discouraged. Simple Voice Chat and Simple Radios are present within the pack, and offer a much more immersive experience.
To start, simply type " /doom " in chat. If the experience ever becomes too overwhelming, you can revert the change by typing " /doom off " . If ever you want to refresh your character without turning the setting off, type " /doomedheal " .

This is my first modpack! Well, that I've published, at least. It's also my first time working with datapacks / configs, so apologies if anything breaks. Modpack comments are on, so I'll try to look at them when I can. I'm not sure how in-depth I want to make this pack, but tentatively I'll say that it's in development. No promises, though.
Thanks for playing! :D
