BYSS Community Pack

This modpack is for the Build Your Spaceship and Explore the Universe Discord server.

The BYSS Community Pack is a medium-sized modpack with a focus on technical mods, as the game it is based on is science fiction. It's intended for an upcoming multiplayer server.

The pack features a variety of content mods, but the majority of mods are either performance, tweak, or quality of life mods. There are only a few large mods.

The pack is being developed for use by members of a certain Discord server, so if you want to give feedback, join us at this link.

Tech Mods

Most of the content mods in the pack are tech mods:

• Building Gadgets & Mining Gadgets: FE-powered tools to assist in building, from placing to swapping blocks, and a FE-powered laser drill with various upgrades for a sci-fi mining experience
• Create, with Create Stuff & Additions, and Create Crafts & Additions: Create is probably the best, most vanilla-esque tech mod in existence. Two companion mods are included.
• Extreme Reactors: Nuclear reactors, done easy and modular! Although, not as safe as some other reactors.
• Refined Storage, with various companion mods: A simpler alternative to Applied Energistics 2, RS allows you to create FE-powered storage and autocrafting networks based on matter-energy equivalence tech.
• Immersive Engineering, with Immersive Petroleum & other companion mods: Immersive Engineering is a more old-fashioned tech mod with a heavy focus on multiblock structures and realism.
• Industrial Foregoing: Many powerful blocks designed to make your Minecraft tech experience easier, from animal farming to stone generation to automated enchanting.
• Mekanism & addons: A huge tech mod containing everything from simple ore doubling to nuclear fusion reactors, ore pentuplication, and antimatter - Mekanism cannot be summed up in one sentence.
• RFTools & all addons (no Dimensions): A large redstone-focused tech mod which allows you much finer control over the redstone components of your Minecraft world, with addons for things like power and storage.
• Scannable, Large Ore Deposits: Scannable allows you to create scanners for finding things, and when paired with Large Ore Deposits, you'll soon be hunting down an ever-elusive Large Diamond Vein.
• Simply Jetpacks 2: I think the title says it all. Supports tech tiers from most mods in this list.
• Space-Bosstools: A continuation of GalactiCraft for 1.16.5, this mod allows you to visit the Moon, Mars, and create your own space stations! A must-have for this modpack!
• Thermal Series: The classic tech mod returns for 1.16.5. Thermal Foundation, Expansion, etc. are the OG ore processing and power generation mods. Note that Dynamics is not updated, so no pipes yet.

  Magic Mods

  A few magic mods are included for those of you who aren't so into technology.
• Astral Sorcery: Claim the power of the stars to do your bidding, building elaborate shrines to harness the power of starlight.
• Botania, with Mythic Botany: Flower power! There's some debate if this is even a magic mod. I will call it a "magitech" mod.
• Eidolon: Cast dark rituals, harvest souls, and wear fancy robes. Pray to dark gods and throw books at witches!
• Waystones: Create survival-friendly teleport waypoints, that even work between dimensions!

Content/Exploration Mods

There are many mods which add content that don't fit into the two categories above...

• Absent By Design: A builder's companion mod which adds a variety of vanilla-based building blocks, such as stairs and slabs for things that needed them.
• Akashic Tome & Morph-o-Tool: The book to contain all of your books, and the wrench to contain all of your other wrenches from other mods.
• Alex's Mobs: A huge variety of creepy, cute, and weird mobs to populate your world! Pet monkeys, orca whales, weird fungus people, and more! Comes with a book.
• Artifacts: Rare loot treasures inspired by other games, which can be worn as Curios. Provides various buffs, from scaring away creepers with kitty shoes to double-jumping with a cloud in a bottle.
• Backpacked & Backpacker: Backpacks. Slightly buffed in this modpack.
• Bedspreads: Put banner patterns on your beds! Why isn't this in vanilla?
• Builders Crafts & Additions: Similar to Absent By Design. Adds more decorative blocks.
• Carry On: Pick up mobs, tile entities, and more.
• Farmer's Delight, Cooking For Blockheads, Simply Farming: I love farming mods. I had to include some of them, especially my favorite, Farmer's Delight.
• Decorative Blocks & compat: What it says on the tin. Things like torch sconces. Fancify your houses!
• Extended Lights: Even more lighting options, mostly focused on bulbs and such.
• Extreme Sound Muffler: Ever get tired of hearing your 32 cows mooing constantly? Shut them up with a simple gui.
• FerriteCore: A wonderful performance mod which slashes the amount of RAM Minecraft consumes in half. The pack should be able to run on 2-4GB!
• GraveStone: Don't lose your items ever again! Well, you will lose them, but only until you go dig up your grave.
• Hats: Of course. ohaiiChun happened to update Hats recently, so I had to add it. A must-have for servers.
• Oh, The Biomes You'll Go: A wonderful biome mod which adds a hundred new biomes to the Overworld, Nether, and End. My favorite biome mod.
• Quark: A mod which adds a variety of content, which can't be summed up in any Neat manner (which is a mod by Vazkii).
• spark: A performance improvement mod focused on CPU usage.
• Tinker's Construct: The third most popular Minecraft mod of all time, and for good reason. Join their Discord!
• Travel Anchors: A more technological alternative to Waystones, importing the travel anchors and wand of travelling from Ender IO.
• Valhelsia Structures: Find various ruined buildings out in the wilderness. Don't forget to look for hidden loot!
• Xaero's Minimap/World Map: Your mapping needs, fulfilled.
• YUNG's Better Caves: More realistic cave generation, configured to work on the Moon and Mars too.
