Description

This modpack is no longer supported

Due to my being on Linux Mint Cinnamon, there is a constant bug where, after a short time of playing, my OS crashes. and the fact that I need to work on my game, this has been abandoned (for now), and I may either transfer ownership or let this rot.

Breaking Dawn is a Minecraft modpack directed towards difficulty and slow progression. This modpack will kill you by any means necessary. In this modpack, you will face body temperature, stamina, thirst, hunger, low max health, quests, locked dimensions, dragons, sirens, and more; even gathering wood is a challenge. Despite these challenges, if you should, or do overcome this modpack — which you never will — then congratulations, but there are still so many things to do and more to come. In this modpack, the Essentials mod is present; therefore, you can play with friends without the hassle or expenses of getting a server.

Breaking Dawn does include the create mod, which can offer much and many forms of gear and machinery that can assist you along the way. This modpack also includes a passive leveling system that will help you along your journey. There are many trinkets and baubles that can be used, too, with great compatibility between many mods. The air is also thin, depending on the dimension and conditions of an area, you will and won’t be able to breathe depending on the conditions.

The Overworld, while vast and perilous, ironically represents the most stable ground you will tread. Do not mistake its familiarity for safety; this sprawling expanse is merely the starting line for a life lived at the mercy of the elements and monsters. Your journey will immediately confront the extreme diversity of the land, forcing you into a constant cycle of preparation and adaptation. To the north, the Freezing Cold Biomes are relentless, featuring deep blankets of snow and treacherous Ice Caves where the temperature alone is a weapon, threatening to freeze you solid in minutes without meticulously prepared insulation. Contrast this with the east and south, where the sun beats down upon Extremely Hot Deserts and their hidden Lost Caves, environments that demand a completely different approach to survival, where water management and shade become your most critical resources.

The ancient structures and deep places of this world are not merely repurposed ruins; they have been enhanced and redesigned. The dungeons are new, complex, and filled with more difficult encounters that will require superior tactics and gear, not just brute force. Furthermore, the difficulty is progressive, meaning the further you descend or the more you conquer, the more formidable the opposition becomes, scaling the challenge to your growing power. Economic survival is a brutal affair; the once-easy prosperity of other worlds is gone. In this land, even the most valuable, gold, is difficult and challenging to collect, transforming its acquisition into a high-stakes expedition rather than a simple mining trip. To ensure your efforts are never wasted, all Structure Loot, including the precious finds in Villages and ruins, is meticulously per player and cannot be taken by others, meaning your success is your own, protected from theft.

Looming over the mundane struggle for food and shelter is the ever-present influence of magic. The world is deeply infused with it, manifesting in unique magical biomes that beg to be explored. These are not just visually different areas; they have distinct environmental hazards, resources, and secrets waiting for the brave and the knowledgeable. Adding another layer of relentless pressure is the fully realized cycle of seasons—Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall. This is more than a visual change; throughout these seasons, your body temperature is going to change drastically, forcing you to craft seasonal gear, build temperature-controlled shelters, and carefully manage every action, lest you succumb to hypothermia in a blizzard or hyperthermia in a heatwave. Finally, once you've secured your foothold against these environmental and monstrous threats, you'll find an array of new decorative blocks and materials to help you immortalize your efforts and make your builds stand out as true beacons of survival and mastery in this unforgiving domain.

The underground world of this modpack is a realm of unpredictable and brutal contrasts, a massive, hidden ecosystem that extends far beyond simple mining shafts. Prepare to descend into environments that vary wildly and mercilessly; one moment, you may be in a cave that is freezing cold, forcing you to worry about hypothermia, and the next, you may stumble into a cavern that is blazing hot and thick with steam. These subterranean spaces can range from vast, cathedral-like chambers to claustrophobic, small tunnels, sometimes filled with thriving, alien life, and sometimes extending deep beneath the surface and even directly into the ocean down to bedrock, requiring specialized gear to navigate.

Beautiful as these hidden realms are, they are also extremely dangerous. The simplest mistake can be fatal: you can quickly suffer from oxygen deprivation in sealed pockets of gas, burn in a sudden river of lava flowing through a thermal vent, or even be brutally beaten by a large, mutated zombie or some other monstrous subterranean inhabitant. Your only guide through this treacherous labyrinth is the integration of Alex's Caves, which introduces extremely large, diverse, and deadly cave systems, each with its own unique ecology, hazards, and rewards. These sprawling caverns are not just for resource gathering; they are extremely important to your progression, serving as the gateway to the modpack's most valuable materials and knowledge. They are also the final refuge for the world’s most powerful enemies, home to many bosses and new or remade structures holding untold secrets. Exercise extreme caution, for the deepest trenches of the earth demand respect: go too deep and die from lack of oxygen or exposure to exotic environmental toxins. Yet, the risk is compelling, for deep somewhere in the earth something large slumbers. Its titanic presence permeates the rock itself, and the echoes of a sleeping giant can often be heard bouncing off the cave walls, a haunting, resonant promise of the ultimate challenge that awaits those who dare to delve into the void.

The Twilight Forest is a vast, dynamic, and perpetually shadowed realm, a dimension cloaked in an eternal, eerie dusk. This expansive, woodsy landscape is more than just trees; it's a fully realized world brimming with discoverable content. You'll navigate through areas that feature unique villages, delve into intricate, custom-built dungeons, and ultimately face a roster of tons of bosses. These initial bosses are intentionally scaled to be some of the easiest bosses in the bunch, offering a great way for adventurers to warm up and test their early-game strength against large-scale threats. The reward for this exploration and combat is well worth the effort, as the dimension yields items that are pretty strange and unique, fundamentally different and distinct compared to the gear and resources found in other areas of the world.

This entire dimension is fundamentally interlocked into the night, meaning the dim light never changes, and hostile mobs should be able to spawn at any moment and anywhere, forcing you to remain constantly vigilant. While you can take comfort in the fact that you can breathe just fine within this dimension, you must still beware of the persistent survival challenges. Your physical state remains a critical concern, as your body temperature can still be an issue, demanding proper clothing and attention to thermal management, and thirst is a very real, life-threatening danger that must be constantly addressed to ensure your survival within the endless gloom.

To simply access the infernal depths of the Nether, you must first undertake a lengthy and arduous adventure across the Overworld, meticulously gathering a myriad of rare and specific components to craft the elusive Seal of the Underworld. Only once you are deemed worthy by this ultimate crafting challenge will the portal open and welcome you to this dimension—a realm where even the most resilient traveler will find that they can't breathe the oppressive atmosphere. Survival here is entirely dependent on technology: to explore this dimension, you will absolutely need a specialized backtank from the Create mod to supply you with a constant flow of life-giving oxygen. Without this backtank, you won’t survive the crushing environmental hostility.

Once inside, you will face relentless threats; you will easily burn, fall into catastrophic pits, suffocate, and be attacked by many, many mobs that call this furnace home. The geography itself has been drastically altered, with each biome being vastly larger and far more unique, featuring massive, dynamic trees and formations that redefine the landscape. Environmental hazards are everywhere, with constant fire and steam geysers erupting without warning. The underworld is littered with so many rebuilt structures that are now far more dangerous and complex, as well as even more and newer structures hiding deadly secrets and valuable loot. The old biomes have been completely redone to feel fresh and terrifying, and, for the boldest explorers, three new secret biomes now exist, waiting to be discovered deep within this scorching, flaming pit.

Reaching the final frontier of the End dimension is a monumental task, far more challenging and complex than any other journey you've faced. The barrier to entry has been raised significantly, requiring you to collect many new types of Ender Eyes, each one obtainable through unique and demanding methods scattered across the dimensions. However, strategy is key: you can only use one of each type of Ender Eye, forcing a thoughtful selection process before the final approach. Once the portal is opened, you will face an End dimension that has been completely overhauled, culminating in a final encounter where the Ender Dragon has been rebuilt and rebalanced to truly stand as the ultimate, final boss that tests every skill you have acquired.

Beyond the initial battle arena, the surrounding islands are redone with wildly varying biomes, transforming the monochrome void into a diverse landscape of floating territories, encouraging (and demanding) further exploration. The main battle island itself is rebuilt entirely to fit the tone of the boss fight, acting as a thematic and mechanically challenging arena tailored for the new dragon encounter. Throughout these new islands, you will find a host of new structures, including extensive mineshafts, intricate dungeons, dramatically remade End Cities, and much more, all designed to reward risk-taking and thorough exploration. Yet, the greatest danger may be the very ground beneath your feet: the fundamental Endstone has aged and become alarmingly fragile, so much so that even a small speck of dust could trigger the Endstone to shatter beneath you, instantly leaving you tumbling into the abyss below. Every step in this final dimension must be taken with absolute precision and caution.
