In my mod pack i find these mods really useful for starting a new world and just in general. Wood harvester cuts down a whole tree, Vein miner adds the vein miner enchant, better-zoom adds the ability to zoom, neat shows hp and mob names (sometimes it doesnt work.) Just enough items shows recipes for every item, and finally waystones add these blocks called waystones that let you teleport to other waystones. These mods are my favourites.
