What's new
Astralbound 0.9.4 — The Strange & Supernatural Update
Astralbound 0.9.4 dramatically expands the magical, supernatural, exploratory, and downright strange side of the pack.
This release focuses on making the world feel more alive and unpredictable: new fantasy races, witches and necromancers, vampires and werewolves, fairies and folklore creatures, haunted locations, sprawling structures, hidden realms beneath the world, new dimensions, expanded oceans, and several new ways to discover things that probably should have stayed undiscovered.
🧝 Expanded Fantasy Character Creation
The Origins system has been reworked around Origins RPG, providing a much larger fantasy-oriented selection of starting races.
Available choices now include races such as:
• Elf
• Vampire
• Werewolf
• Angel
• Demon
• Dragonborn
• Orc
• Goblin
• Lizardkin
• Fey
• Undead
• Merling
• Arachne
• Villager
• Human
• And more
Alternate Origin GUI remains available for the improved character-selection interface.
The separate Gods & Heroes RPG Classes system remains intact, so your race and class are still independent choices.
Want to be an Elf Mage? Vampire Rogue? Angel Paladin? Goblin Berserker?
Go for it.
⚔️ Better Combat
Better Combat has been added, bringing smoother melee attacks, improved weapon animations, and a much more satisfying melee experience.
It works alongside systems already in Astralbound such as:
• Simply Swords
• Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks
• Born in Chaos
• Various RPG weapons and equipment
Magic remains a major focus, but melee combat should now feel considerably more polished too.
🧛 Vampires & Werewolves
The world now has proper supernatural factions through:
• Vampirism — Become a Vampire!
• Werewolves — Become a Beast!
Expect vampire activity, vampire hunters, supernatural settlements, faction content, werewolves, and other nocturnal dangers throughout your adventures.
These coexist with Astralbound's Origins RPG races, meaning supernatural creatures now exist both as inhabitants of the world and as possible player identities.
🧟 Born in Chaos
Born in Chaos 1.7.5 has been added.
This introduces a large assortment of bizarre and aggressive creatures, strange encounters, equipment, structures, and supernatural threats.
Nighttime, caves, ruins, and wilderness exploration should now feel much less predictable.
🪦 The Graveyard
Graveyards, crypts, undead creatures, eerie structures, and additional gothic worldbuilding have arrived through The Graveyard.
The Overworld now has more places that strongly suggest you should turn around.
Naturally, you should investigate them anyway.
🧚 Fairies, Folklore & Enchanted Forest Creatures
Several new creature mods make wilderness exploration more magical.
Myths & Legends
Adds supernatural and folkloric creatures including strange spirits, monsters, possessed beings, relics, and unusual encounters.
Whisperwoods
Adds mysterious forest creatures and supernatural ambience such as wisps, moths, the Hidebehind, Hirschgeist, and other woodland oddities.
Fay's Fairies
Adds small magical fairies that can be encountered and befriended.
Forests should now feel considerably more enchanted — and occasionally more dangerous.
🧙♀️ Witchcraft & Dark Magic
Astralbound's magic systems have expanded beyond traditional spellcasting.
Hexerei
A new witchcraft system featuring cauldrons, magical ingredients, witchy equipment, rituals, and a strong cottage-witch aesthetic.
Occultism
Perform rituals and interact with supernatural entities from beyond the normal world.
Goety — The Dark Arts
Necromancy, souls, dark rituals, servants, forbidden magic, supernatural enemies, and sinister structures have arrived.
Goety: Awaken
Goety has also been expanded with additional servants, enemies, structures, equipment, spells, encounters, and other dark content.
Astralbound now supports everything from cozy woodland witchcraft to full-blown necromantic villainy.
🏚️ A Huge New Structure Expansion
Exploration has received one of its largest upgrades yet.
Medieval Buildings
New naturally generated cottages, ruins, houses, towers, and other medieval structures can now be discovered throughout the Overworld.
Medieval Buildings — Nether Edition
The Nether now receives its own set of medieval-inspired structures.
Medieval Buildings — End Edition
The End has also been expanded with additional structures built specifically for its alien environment.
Wizard Tower
Actual wizard towers can now generate naturally in the world, complete with magical inhabitants and loot.
YUNG's Better Witch Huts
Vanilla witch huts have been dramatically improved.
Sky Villages
Entire settlements can now appear floating high above the world.
Remember to look up.
When Dungeons Arise — Seven Seas
The oceans now contain additional large-scale maritime structures and ships, expanding the already substantial aquatic side of Astralbound.
🌊 More Ocean Exploration
Astralbound already included:
• Atlantis
• Aquamirae
• Upgrade Aquatic
• YUNG's Better Ocean Monuments
• Hopo Better Underwater Ruins
• Additional aquatic content
When Dungeons Arise — Seven Seas now further expands exploration above and across the oceans with massive maritime discoveries.
The sea should feel less like empty travel space and more like another major exploration region.
🌌 New Dimensions & Hidden Realms
Several entirely new realms have joined Astralbound's already enormous dimensional roster.
The Undergarden
A vast, strange subterranean realm beneath the normal world containing its own ecosystems, creatures, materials, and dangers.
The Deep Void
There is now something beneath the bedrock.
Falling far enough below the Overworld can lead to an enormous horror-themed dimension filled with bizarre biomes, bones, flesh, hostile creatures, bosses, structures, and remnants of a lost civilization.
Light is not always safe.
Voidscape
Bedrock itself can now act as a gateway to something much stranger.
Remain around it long enough and you may find yourself pulled into a hostile Void realm with its own creatures, biomes, progression, equipment, and corrupting effects.
Deep Void + Voidscape Integration
These have been deliberately configured to serve different purposes:
• Stand upon the bedrock and linger → Voidscape
• Actually fall beneath the Overworld → The Deep Void
The bottom of Minecraft is no longer simply the bottom of Minecraft.
Blue Skies
Two large fantasy dimensions add additional environments, creatures, dungeons, bosses, and progression.
Heaven Dimension
A new celestial realm exists high above the normal world.
Heaven adds another radically different environment to Astralbound's already enormous collection of dimensions, giving players yet another magical destination to discover.
Astralbound now has dangers lurking both far below and mysteries waiting far above the Overworld.
🌌 The End Gets Stranger
The Endergetic Expansion has been added, introducing additional End environments, creatures, vegetation, and other alien content.
Combined with Medieval Buildings — End Edition and Astralbound's existing End content, reaching the End should now feel much more like entering another world rather than simply arriving on an empty island.
🎃 Haunted Harvest
Astralbound now includes Haunted Harvest.
This adds some considerably less horrifying spooky content:
• Pumpkin carving
• Halloween decorations
• Candy
• Corn
• Masks
• Seasonal atmosphere
• Costumed baby villagers
• Actual villager trick-or-treating
Not every supernatural encounter needs to involve being eaten.
☣️ All-Consuming Grey Goo
Kaupenjoe's All-Consuming Grey Goo has been added.
Grey Goo is an extremely dangerous self-propagating substance capable of consuming enormous portions of the world.
This joins Astralbound's existing terrain-destructive magic and catastrophic sandbox tools.
Use it carefully.
Seriously.
🌍 Exploration Philosophy
Astralbound continues to prioritize discovery over simply increasing the mod count.
The world can now contain:
• Wizard towers
• Medieval cottages
• Haunted graveyards
• Improved witch huts
• Floating villages
• Enormous ships
• Supernatural forests
• Vampires
• Werewolves
• Fairies
• Folklore monsters
• Undead creatures
• Magical settlements
• Dark rituals
• Strange ruins
• Alien End environments
• Hidden worlds beneath bedrock
• Celestial worlds above the sky
• Entire hostile realities outside normal existence
Existing structure-spacing systems remain in place to help prevent the world from becoming nothing but structures.

✨ Astralbound 0.9.4
This update pushes Astralbound further toward its intended identity:
A huge magical sandbox where exploration can lead almost anywhere.
Fly high enough and you may find worlds above.
Dig too deep and you may discover something beneath the world.
Stand on the wrong bedrock for too long and reality may take you somewhere else entirely.
Enter a forest and encounter fairies or creatures from folklore.
Follow the road and discover a wizard's tower.
Sail the ocean and stumble across enormous ships.
Wander at night and encounter vampires, werewolves, undead horrors, or something much worse.
Or become an Elf wizard, learn forbidden necromancy, travel into space, destroy the landscape with catastrophic magic, accidentally release Grey Goo, and then flee into another dimension.
Welcome to Astralbound 0.9.4.
