DesirePaths turn grass blocks to dirt if it is trampled on a lot by entities, but will regrow over time.

Dirt2Path allows you to convert dirt blocks to path blocks with a shovel instead of having to wait for it to turn into grass. You can also sneak and right click to turn it back to dirt.
